The Classic Traveller Starter Edition (1983), 3 books in a format reorganized from the original 1977 Little Black Books, is *still* available for free from DriveThruRPGs. They said it was downloadable free only until Dec. 31, but in fact it is still there, still for free. You must register first on DriveThruRPGs to download. http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/80190/CT-ST-... You can polish up the game a bit by downloading the errata file for Classic Traveller, courtesy of Donald McKinney. Errata in the Starter Edition begin on page 12. http://dmckinne.winterwar.org/pdfs/ConsolidatedCTE... Traveller 5th-edition is different from Classic Traveller, but some things are similar such as the planetary generation system and aspects of the combat damage system.

That would be good enough, but the Traveller Starter Edition organized it as rules in one book, all the tables in the second book, adventures in the third book. To spruce up your edition, you can take note of the file of errata for the Classic Traveller editions: http://dmckinne.winterwar.org/pdfs/ConsolidatedCTErrata.pdf Traveller 5th-edition has not had an errata file update since July 2013. I was concerned about certain "vagueness" in the rules, but I will not let the state of its publishing bother me and TRY to set up something in that system. In the meantime, other games have come out, and generally they come out right the first time, so I can't promise anything.
