The Game Girl by Moonlight is a Blades in the Dark hack currently in development by Andrew Gillis. It seeks to recreate the kinds of stories seen in the magical girl genre, where the characters "struggle against the suffocating darkness of the world, made manifest in day-to-day oppression, as well as monstrous embodiments of that same darkness." You can find the playtest kit here . We will use the In a Starlit Kingdom series playbook in particular. In Andrew's own words, "In a Starlight Kingdom is about redemption and heroism. It has an optimistic outlook, in which the monsters have hope of being human again. The transcendent powers of the protagonists are a pure and truly good thing, and they use their power to push back the Darkness, and change the world for the better. There's still danger, and struggle, but ultimately this series aims for an uplifting and un-cynical narrative." The Time A one-shot session that will run tonight, May 14, 5-9 p.m. PDT (you can use World Time Buddy to convert to your time zone). We will take three five-minute breaks around the top of every hour. The Players Players of all experience levels (including none at all) are welcome. Part of the playtest is seeing how well the rules transmit to first-time players. We'll use Discord to communicate in English and record the session to send to the developer as playtest material. Please try to keep background noise to a minimum and mute yourself if you need to eat, sneeze, have a side conversation, etc. Sound fun to you? Head over to the game listing or send me a PM! -O'Neill
