Map Requests?

Just randomly figured to take a break from game design, and make at least one or two 3D maps for roll20.net's marketplace today as practice on medieval interior design, or exterior design. Any suggestions; and if your suggested map is a certain shape perhaps draw an outline of how you want it to be and post me a link to said outline? And if you want some people in certain poses as decorations instead of empty rooms; say I make a tavern scene, and instead of just placing empty chairs I place chairs with npcs in them; make sure to mention that otherwise I'll just make an empty scene for you to fill up with life; for npcs I got peasants, guards, knights, orcs, and goblins; and an animator onhand if you need a certain pose I can't just make myself for whatever reason. And what I mean by outline, perhaps something along the lines of http://i.imgur.com/jbQe8mr.png but, maybe a bit better looking.

Don't happen to fancy making some modern style maps do you? Warehouses, offices, that kind of thing? I find them devilishly hard to come up with or to find a good source of pre made ones

I find them devilishly hard to come up with or to find a good source of pre made ones I would if I had the resources; been focusing on medieval since my current project is a medieval fantasy. I mean I can perhaps toss some city scene segment or maybe a construction site scene together though; but nothing in terms of interior.

That inn looks awesome, did you make all the furniture yourself?

I paid alot for the furniture, and It's going to be used in my game series I'm working on (GraveNight Tales) when it's done. Decided I should make some maps for roll20 as practice. I think my next map will be a city, already drew up a blueprint for it; but I'm not sure if I should have the river through or not. I think this one will need to be either one huge map, or divided into separate maps; got a feeling this ones going to take a few weeks of work to finish; but, it'll just be pure epic when finally done.
Since there are a ton of town maps how about something odd or new, like a dwarven city, or a mountain terrain combat map. The second one may sound strange but there is really no good ones out there. also what program do you use for making these maps?

I suppose I could make a mountain combat area; but I'm not sure what one would consist of; probably mountains and a path and a clearing I suppose; but then it really depends on the kind of battle ones going for, for example an ambush would have a different look than a warfield; I guess I can just make the map then make seperate looks for each situation, as for dwarven cities; well I guess I can draw up a nice blueprint and work on making one of those, although dwarven city design kinda differs from person to person; what look would the dwarven city probably go for? Rocky buildings, cave environment, streams of lava, awesome statues? I made a mountain pass map, going to toss a day/night version, into a set called "The Generic Mountain Pass" When I get a reply back from roll20; probably sometime in the morning.
Abandoned city, cthuluesque style, ruins etc. Been considering making one myself, never occured to me to make on in 3D though.

I want to see how that city turns out! I like the initial look in terms of the size / proportions of the city-blocks, wards, small river width, wall height, and tree size. Would you consider being available to make a village + camp, paid map commission for me? It would be about half the size of your city (above) with similar but varying features such as a river and a slightly different wall/fence. Sending you a PM with this question & a bit more details.

Dark stone, ruins, strange geometric shapes, no straight corners, almost organic in it's shape in places. Though, honestly, any sort of "ruined & dark" bit would be interesting to see.

Yeah, the Illithid architecture is inspired by drawings of Cthulu temples, among other things. It's a nice style :)

But I'll probably do Golds request first, if he ever replies to my PM to him.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with :)

What sort of textures is it you want? And as for the "dungeon layout" I'd vote to make it more open, like a normal above-ground city, but ruined, leaves more freedom to explore and improvise (and also more possibilities for ambushes or strange finds)

Well I just bought the textures I'll use in it; and what kind of environment should I go for? Forest, waterish, beachish, rocky islandish?
Dealers choice I'd say. I can work with it either way. And if you need any textures feel free to give me a poke, I sort of make them as a hobby-job from time to time :)

Most things that are supposed to be "ravaged" are, aren't they? Same goes for creepy and alien. This includes both. What sort of layout have you got so far btw? Or did you reject it as a "failure"?

Anywho, I bought something which should hopefully make my new maps less pixelated and better looking for high res than the old ones.
Perhaps a bit too small, but still, I like the buildings themselves. Very nice work I must admit.

I just found a huge logic flaw with the basic design of it; the bridges going inward towards the tower would mean that at some point a stream or something went around there; which would mean that the buildings would not be right next to it- thus there's no actual room for the buldings in the first place. lol, still would make for a nice island tower map. Maybe half sunken houses near where the path leading into the water is.
Not necessarily. There have been some cities in the world where "bridges" were built over houses to add new streets for some locations, often to make it easier to get around or make it so "finer folk" didn't have to traverse the same streets as the lesser. (these things were often ceremonial, but not always.
I'm so confused... 3D in roll20? how did I never hear about this? or see anything about that? is that another mentor only thing?
