[LFP] Frozen Apocalypse World, Mondays EST

It happened quickly. Quicker than even the most alarmist prognosticators. The cold swept in like a tidal wave and nobody was ready for it. You and a hundred or so others have spent the last several months constructing Vesta - a massive coal-fired heater. A few of these devices were ordered constructed as experiments against the cold, but then everything went to shit and now you and the others call this one home, clinging to its life-sustaining warmth, at least for now. At least until you can find something better. Civilization was only a few hours' drive away, but now the land is blanketed in white, masking everything under snow and ice, and even if you could make the trek, would anyone be alive? Wouldn't you have heard from them by now? This is about the lives of these characters as they try to make it thought the apocalypse and what they're willing to do to get by. PCs start as inhabitants of this community. Them and a hundred others will all have had a working relationship together building the massive heater, but that project is in the past and now they'll be butting heads over how the community is run. Mondays EST evenings (some flex in the time), 21+ (25+ preferred), voice over discord. Players are expected to be friendly, considerate, and respectful. I'm starting with the setting from Frostpunk, a PC game by the makers of This War of Mine. I don't intend to follow the PC game, just use the setting as a jumping off point. Where we go from there will largely be determined by the PCs and what they care about. It'll be 1950s-ish tech, but impacted by the frozen apocalypse. No experience with the system (Apocalypse World) or PC game is required - in fact, a lack of experience with the PC game might be preferred to avoid recycling material. For those unfamiliar with Apocalypse World, it's a narrative-focused game with fairly light rules. It's not about adventuring parties, quests, or combat; there are no turn-based grid battles, nor orcs that need killing. There are humans, and humans can sometimes be shitty at each other, but rarely will that result in fights to the death. The game is about people, some friendly, some shitty, all of them interesting, and how you deal with them.
Again for those who aren't familiar with Apocalypse World, here are some of the playbooks (read: classes) to give you some of the game's flavor: Hardholder: Shit rolls downhill, but complaints go the other way, and you're the one they come to with all of them. Somehow you're in charge of keeping this little pile of parts and people in check and stop it all from tearing apart. There are many who dispute and challenge your authority but for better or worse, you're the big boss. At least for now. Hocus: Gods? It's pretty clear that they've abandoned everyone, but cults never go out of style. There's always something to deify, whether it be the burned-out sun, the life-giving heater, or the hedonistic pleasures that some cling to before the ice swallows them. When everything goes to shit, people need something to believe in. There are a lot of pretenders out there but you're the one that knows what they really need. Maestro D': Once upon a time people dressed real dap and lived in luxe. Those days are gone; the luxe encased in ice and the dap chaps cased in ice, but they knew the score. Some still strive for life's zest and not just drudgery and survival; they make a living providing a place to have a warm drink, maybe some warm company to forget your troubles, or a little somethin' somethin' to take the edge off. Angel: When your fingers are black from frostbite and every breath spits up blood, who do you pray to? The gods? They've not done much for you and besides, they're all gone now. Your mom? She's a darling but cookies and soft words can't stop the blackness from overcoming you. No, you pray for someone with a steady hand, sutures, and morphine. And when that person comes, that's an angel. Brainer: When the cold struck, despair set in. More despair than humanity had known in a long while. They say if you stare too long into the darkness, it starts to stare back... and it has. Emotions cling in the air like a fog, whispering their secrets. Some fear this maelstrom but others dance with it, and you're a virtuoso. People have never liked you, called you freak and worse, but now you're the one they turn to understand the unimaginable.
I'm certainly interested, depending on time
Probably 7pm or 8pm EST. for 3+ hours. I have some flex, so it depends on others.
I'm interested for sure
A friend wants in and she might invite her bf. So if I pickup 1, maybe 2 more (depending on bf) we're gtg. For all the 'heavy RP wanted' LFGs, there should be takers. Although I suspect a lot of those people haven't branched out from D&D and either aren't interested in, or are intimidated by, something new.
I am definitely interested. Is there still room?

There is still room. I'm hoping to have a session zero with char gen this coming Monday; I'm waiting on word from another player to confirm that day.
