Completing the compendium

I read on another thread that the compendium could only use what was in the official SRD with the OGL. Why can't we unlock the rest of the material similarly to how we can purchase monster manual, volos, etc. If the price was reasonable, I wouldn't mind purchasing a more complete compendium, rather than the incredibly basic one that frequently is missing items, spells, subclasses, etc.

There is no "rest of the material" to unlock. The Compendium is and will always be the SRD. That's just the licensing set up by Wizards that the world has to follow. Buying the Monster Manual and Volo's and the like is the way to add licensed material. That Roll20 has not yet released the PHB or DMG material is almost certainly due to difficulties in procuring the license. We can speculate that this has something to do with cost, or control of data, or deals WotC has made with others that grant exclusivity, but we have no idea, and obviously, none of the involved parties can speak publicly (or they would). Roll20 has said multiple time that they would like to provide these items.

I believe the roll20 team said they already had the license for the PHB and DMG material, but were working out how best to present it. And that was sometime last year! Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
They said 6 months ago it would roll out "early 2018"....... Well we are almost half way through 2018 and no update? I'm not buying anymore content until I see a new PHB and DMG. I've already spent a fortune. Roll 20 is great but it's lacking a DnD 5e modules basic rules - the SRD is a start but it's not enough. I keep checking for updates here but I don't see any? I am losing faith now and looking at Fantasy grounds instead. D&D Beyond doesnt have a VTT so not much choice out there. WOTC need to sort themselves out.
I would also like to know if this is still forthcoming.

By read between the lines, I think you mean, read the blatant, obvious memo scrawled between the lines and highlighted with a hot pink marker with arrows pointing to it saying "YES! This means what you want it to mean! I'm just not going to explicitly say it!"
On an unrelated note, Charactermancer supposed to launch on the dev server in a week or so....
