Check range to target

I've been trying to find this, but I haven't managed to find the answer to this. Is there a way to check the range in a macro? In my particular case, I wanted to make an attack macro for ranged weapons that will auto roll disadvantage for long range, but normally for short range. Edit: A friend found this post talking about a script to calculate the range and then using that. Hoping there's something a little more simplistic now for calling this? https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1687261/range-calculated-to-targeted-token

I've used token auras to better visualize range increments... I think some of this can be done using a custom API script(pro perk). It looks like Aaron has a measurement script that could give distance between tokens https://app.roll20.net/forum/permalink/6111036/ and something else https://app.roll20.net/forum/permalink/4789451/ but the player would have to determine which attack roll to make based off of the distance reported by the script. Nothing that would auto-roll based off the range increment.
