Optional light colors

Has any thought been given to allowing the DM to adjust the color of the light given off by objects and characters?  I've been prepping the Palace of the Silver Princess adventure which centers around an evil ruby.  I thought it might be cool to have the ruby give off a glow so I added some light to it.  What would REALLY be cool is to have the light be tinted red!
You can give the token a red aura and make the aura visible to everyone. The downside to this is that the aura will pass through walls whereas DL tint would stop of walls.
I tried that but I didn't like how the aura passes through walls.  That's why I thought the "light" would be a better option.  ;)
