Minor macro issue when trying to use character variables

I'm trying to create a basic cure-wounds macro, but the following: /me boops a person and gives them [[1d8+@{Aridysa Lori|spellcasting_ability} ]] HP. Is making the roll come out to 1d8+3+, and the extra plus makes the modifier cancel out. What's putting the extra plus in the command? Online I see people who do similar macros and have no problems.

What do you get in chat if you simply enter @{Aridysa Lori|spellcasting_ability} My guess is that something is wonky with the attribute value of "spellcasting_ability".
Doing that simply gives me "3+". I can't tell what's going on with the attribute or how it even broke in the first place.

I really don't know the 5e OGL that well.  Obviously it will match whichever spell casting ability you choose on the spells tab.  I think it's just "substituting" an abilities mod vale.  ie intelligence_mod, wisdom_mod, etc. Not sure why it's adding "+" though.  You can simply adjust your macro and wrap "spellcasting_ability" within an inline roll ie /me boops a person and gives them [[1d8 + [[ @{Aridysa Lori|spellcasting_ability} ]] ]] HP.
Thanks, that macro works. Weird that I need to do a roll within a roll, but whatever works I guess.

The inline roll brackets just force the result of the query to be a number, so that you can do math with it.
