If I'm understanding your question correctly; most macros are written to work with a specific sheet. They will use that sheet's attribute names and/or roll templates. If you want use a macro written for a specific sheet with another sheet, you'll have to make the proper substitutions... Maybe post the macro you have and we might be able to help with the conversion to the 5e OGL sheet.
