Party entered Kytt. Led by Yee-Rup, the party walked through the streets. About 50-60% humans and humanoids, the party had crowds cheering for them. The dragonborn seemed mostly aloof and unimpressed by the party. Yee-Rup helped get the crowds excited, with kobolds and dragonborn impressed more by him than the party. Yee-Rup took the party to the palace gates, where a dozen white dragonborn in robes with staffs were guarding the gates in addition to normal archers and guards. They agreed to let Madormi and Olzion in, but the party would have to apply for a meeting with the council of elders. Alternatively, if they fought in the next day’s arena battle and managed to defeat the Champions of Kytt, they could meet the council the next day. The party then went off with Yee-Rup to ask him questions about the champions. He desribed them: Urolin of Clan Testush, a gold dragonborn wielding a heavy crossbow, who is a legendary archer. Quelrash of Clan Nyualraal, a silver dragonborn who wields power bestowed on her by Garyx the dragon deity of fire and destruction. She wears half-plate and has a shield that protects her from enemy magic. Karith of Clan Drereluth, a black dragonborn arcane caster with a magic staff who is fond of flames. Krivdhall Drecul, a mighty black dragonborn warrior who wields a magical greatsword. Yee-Rup described the last champion as a powerful, witty, and charismatic kobold so influential and powerful that he need not speak his name (Yee-Rup was the 5th champion). Yee-Rup told them that the party could only fight if they persuaded the challengers to give up their slot. Yee-Rup took the party to south-Kytt to find the challengers. In south Kytt, they overheard two humans arguing about the legitimacy of the heroes in draconic. The two got in a fight, with the woman saying they were imposters winning and the man defending them going down. Cassius moved over to heal him, and was met by Gurgle, the kobold cleric of Tamara they met right before the undead invasion of Dravens’ Port months ago. Gurgle took a gold from the man, healed them, and then said hello to the rest of the party. Cassius gave him and then the man who had been stabbed a platinum each. All the while, the party was telling everyone they met about the recruiting station outside the city and preaching that Kytt needed to join the war. The party went inside the training hall to meet the challengers, led by the red dragonborn warrior, Neszys (m). Yee-Rup left since it wasn’t proper for him to be around the challengers the day before the battle. All 5 of the challengers were Uf-turak, meaning clanless. They included Usthithyra (m) a copper dragonborn, Ocoria (f) another copper dragonborn who spoke thieves’ cant, Welsidrish (f) a black dragonborn with healing abilities, and Qizys (m) a blue dragonborn who wears armor and uses martial weapons. Neszys explained that his group were fighting to regain their names and thus their honor, but if the party would be willing to speak to the council of elders on their behalf, they’d be willing to step down if the party could prove they had a better chance of winning. Rurrick suggested that one of them fight Urd. Neszys accepted, with Urd winning in less than 18 seconds. Welsidrish healed Neszys back, and Neszys looked hopeful that the party might win. Urd agreed, after they win, to help Neszys and his friends gain their honor back, help them start a new clan, or help them start over elsewhere. Ocoria said she could help place bets once new odds were issued. Welsidrish was a cleric of Bahamut, and suggested the party go talk to the champion Krivdhall Drecul who was also a follower of Bahamut. She suggested they approach him since after they sent word to the fight manager that they would be withdrawing and naming the party to fight for them, the Champions of Kytt would have to accept the challenge. Talking to Krivdhall might make that happen. The party traveled back north, this time with Neszys who Cassius helped heal up to about 80% of his normal health. The party found the large, hulking black dragon, shirtless but wearing a belt of fire giant strength while forging weapons on an outside anvil in an outside forge. Next to him was a pile of curved looking longswords, a unique style to Kytt. The party talked with him, and he explained that while Yee-Rup was neither good nor bad, the rest of the champions were not good creatures. After explaining their plight, Cassius was very convincing (rolled a nat 20) and Rurrick believed studying Krivdhall that he had been swayed to want to help the party. Krivdhall expressed both sadness for Neszys that he wouldn’t be fighting, but happiness that his life wouldn’t be in danger since the other champions had been known to kill their enemies on occasion. During this discussion they also learned that the Champions of Kytt hadn’t been defeated in over 5 years, it had taken Neszys 2 years to be able to challenge them, and the reason that Kytt allowed anyone to challenge the champions is because they believe in dragonborn superiority so much that they think there is no way outsiders could possibly beat them.
