I had the bad luck of joining during an off week. I haven't played in a long time but enjoyed playing. Do you allow Aslan characters or only human? I played a merchant with their own ship back then and really liked it. I got a bit carried away and made a 1000 ton merchant ship and all the crew members. Probably will never get to use them but was a good refresher. I have a link to most Traveler books on digits if you need it. https://rpg.rem.uz/Traveller/ some of the books do not load unfortunately. I will need help with the google sound system though. I will see you all 7 pm on 07 Aug.
Howdy, Daniel's at Gencon or on his way back from there but I can answer some of your questions. The cannon races don't exist in this setting, however there are Caspian Pouncers which are more or less uplifted Tigers. There are also Efray who are if a fox and a persian cat got funky and then someone uplifted them. (they're awesome and Lucky!) Character creation happens at the start of game and goes pretty quick, even quicker if you know the rules. -Cory Player of Tamir, Efray Extraordinaire.
Lyle, I use the first three little black books of Classic Traveller plus the Classic Traveller Supplement books. However, you should not get caught up in thinking that you need to know the rules. You do not. Many previous players came into the game with preconceived ideas of what a character should or shouldn’t be. For example, a level ‘1’ in a skill is highly highly valuable asset. Even a skill at level ‘0’ is an amazingly good. Yet I’ve been told by one player that he doesn’t think “Pilot-1” is a playable character. He was wrong of course. You could start the game with a character that is 18 years old and has no training at all. Or you could start with a 46 year veteran with half a dozen skills. It’s the characters interaction with NPCs and your ability to draw conclusions from past events that help you succeed or fail in the game. Hope that helps. Look forward to seeing you in tonight's game. -Daniel
