First time ever playing dnd

So I want to delve into the deep well that is dungeons and dragons but it looks so intimidating to begin. I have a rough idea of the race and class I wanna start as but the whole backstory thing seems super overwhelming for somebody who isn’t naturally a writer or story teller. My dnd expierebce is limited to watching every episode of critical role and developing a heavy interest in playing my first game but now knowing anybody locally who plays. Primarily I’m looking for help polishing or even just creating my character and then from there getting into my first game. The vast community surrounding this game seems pleasant enough to maybe lend some help to a new comer. I appreciate any and all assistance anybody provides. Thanks so much guys.
Im new too and I want to play but im not sure how or where to start.
Hey folks. I'm a GM who is looking for a regular game to run on here and I'm more than happy to help folk learn the game. I've been GMing for 25 years or so now (Jesus makes me sound old) but normally game with my face to face group and I'm looking to branch out here on Roll20. I'm UK based so times would be BST/GMT. Only thing is I tend to run Pathfinder rather than D&D 5th, so of you are flexible on your flavour of dungeon crawler then maybe I can help?

I'm new too Thing is I played few games of DnD(never finished any) and everytime we used different rules even for character set up And when I brought a character I made in one of my previous games looked kinda underpowered in a current(so I kinda lost in a sauce here) If you willing to teach and willing to lead us throught from the start then I would like to participate GMT +2
I am pretty sure I can lead you guys through if you want me to. The good thing about Pathfinder is that all the rules are available legally for free on line so it means no one has to spend any money if you don't want to.

Well then... How do we get started? And by that I mean atleast voicechat and time when we can discuss the rest
I think I would be down for that the character I just don’t know if the character I wanna play is in pathfinder
I am a Dungeons and Dragons DM, I'd be willing to assist you all in making characters, etc take a look at https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/3497753/the-steel-marigold-living-campaign

By default a link such as https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/1234567/s ... is only visible to players already in the game, and only Plus and Pro subscribers can make their games visible to the public , but even then people not in the game can not post to the forums. The best way to handle this situation is to create a Looking for Group listing ; even if you do not enable it for viewing in the LFG Directory you can share the link with others and have a separate Listing Discussion forum just for those potentially interested in your game. As a bonus, anyone who posts to your game's Listing Discussion forum will have a big blue button by their username and all a GM has to is click 'Invite to Game' and an invitation will be sent their way. I hope this helps, happy gaming! :)
Evan, D A, Brandon, I'm about 4 months of experience in playing, got into dnd from watching Critical Role too. I don't have a game for you guys to join, but I can definitely help you guys out in creating a character. Add me in Discord and I can answer any questions you have: Philip#3272

Hey, I've played some different RPGs in general, but never tried Pathfinder before. If you guys have space for one more player I would love to join in. I am fine with playing whatever kind of role, I think. I should probably read up on what they might be in pathfinder. :) I'm based in Sweden so timewise I'm just an hour ahead of the UK. I can probably fit weeknight sessions in just fine. Edit: Oh, I should mention that I can also make it to that session 0 thing on Thursday, and I suppose I'll at least hear from you guys there!
Murgel, that sounds fantastic, welcome aboard! The good thing about Pathfinder is that if you can think of it tehre is likely a class and race combination that can be molded to fit your vision :D
