I was wondering if you are able to input a gif into the battle screen, I tried moving the file from the folder in but it will just appear in image format, is there any macros that I could try I also tried making the gif into a token, the select file tab even includes the mention of a gif but this still only results in a still image

Nope. It does not support gif only .png and .jpeg

You can use gifs as token images, but only still images. Gifs aren't always animated. roll20 doesnt support animated gifs.

This is true. From the Wiki : Roll20 doesn't fully support GIF files due to the inconsistencies and non-standardization of its file type. Some GIF images will upload to Roll20 with no issue, while others will outright fail. Animated GIFs do not work at all on Roll20.

Also, note that JPG files should use .jpg as the file extension, not .jpeg.
