18.Mafia Story I'm thinking of running a series of one shots based on this idea. The game(s) would be on a weekend, I am in pacific standard time We would use roll 20 for stuff and Discord for chat (I haven't created anything yet on Roll20 checking for interest, I have no players) The Background: t
has been 70 years since the Third World War ended, shifting the
entire world order. In the wake of destruction the underworld went into
it's own
clandestine World War, throwing it into absolute chaos. It took 20
years but the underworld was unified under a single council of seven
powerful families. It was not long after that, though, that the seven
families began to bicker among one another and rumors of another war
began to spread. A decision was made by the council that a single
person should reign, a king of sorts of would be chosen to create the
laws of the underworld and enforce them through an unaffiliated group of
assassins known as, "The Neutral" The king would be chosen
through a process known as the selection, where all family heads must
attend and claim their right to their family seat, if no one recognized
as a figure of the family claims the seat it would be declared vacant.
At this meeting any candidate that desired to be king could stand on
behalf of their family and would enter into a state of war with other
candidates. Their families would fight until either the family
surrendered or the candidate was killed. If no one was crowned within
three ,months both families would be indiscriminately killed by The
Neutral until someone finally surrendered. The new king would then
establish the laws of the underworld which must be strictly enforced for
10 years and fill in vacancies in the council. In all 50 year since the
first king laws come and gone without much disruption to the power
structure, that is until the most recent King. He declared on his
coronation the law of "purity," and the law of "survival." The
law of purity states that no person may lay claim to a family seat
unless they can trace back their bloodline directly to the first of
their family to hold that seat. He also declared new family heads must
claim the seat in 10 years. The law of survival
states that the mafioso have become complacent in fifty years. He
declared that the laws prohibiting violence between families would end
immediately. He furthered this by stating that while heads of families
are still safe, the heirs of families are not . Your Game: It
has been nine year since the last king was crowned setting off one of
the most violent periods of mafia history. The children of every mafia
head were sent into all corners of the globe into hiding. Anyone old
enough to fight were killed in brutal assassinations. You were young
loyal mafia members tasked with the role to protect the Eighth heir of
the Italian Mafia Hiro Benedici a half Japanese half Italian who was
only 10 years old when he went into hiding with his mother. He now
lives in a small town in Northern California. Most of you settled into
lives that were ordinary, acting as sleeper agents until the day you
were called to duty, thinking you never would. He was after all the
eighth in line, most of you in nine years have moved on. Some of you
have gotten married or found new careers. You never thought you would
be mafia again. That was until yesterday when the seventh heir Bruno
Benedici now the next in line, was killed in a town square in France.
Hiro is one of three children left in the Benedici line that could lay
claim to the chair. Your job is to keep him alive until the selection
which so happens to take place in a winter palace outside of Moscow in
two months.
