Hey there, fellow Savages! I am looking at running a short campaign of either Daring Tales of Adventure or Rippers Resurrected. I'd be trying to implement the new SWADE rules as we learn them so we can learn 'em together. I'd likely run either on a Thursday or Saturday evening US eastern time (likely evenings), but I do have some flexibility if those times just do not work. Let me know if you are interested and what preferences you have. Best, Andy

Depending on which day and time is selected I'd be interested in a Rippers game.

Cool @Finderski. I was already leaning toward Rippers Resurrected. I'm thinking the PCs are in the Masked Crusaders faction. Frazer's Fighters also seem like a groovy faction who operate in an interesting theatre.
I had prepped for a Rippers Resurrected game that never happened. Would love to finally get to play it! If timing is right then I'm in!

@Andy H, cool. I'll take a look and see if I can get a character concept for you. I've never played Rippers (any edition), so...those two names mean nothing to me, at the moment--which means, I'm good with anything. :)
I'm also familiar with Savage Worlds but never played Rippers. But you had me at "pulp". Depending on the actual time and day, I may join. Right now if it's either Thursday or Friday starting at 8pm EST (NYC Time), I should be free to join. I'll keep checking back this week. Good luck with the game!
Daniel M + Aga IX + Finderski Sounds really good. I do not need commitments at this point but it is great to have the interest so far! I am now looking at Tuesday or Thursday evenings (US eastern time, likely 8 pm to 10: 30 or 11 pm).
Weekdays are better
Might be a good time to move this to Discord to hash out the time?

I am thinking that PCs start out with around 6 advances (Seasoned) and have a number of Favor points "in the bank". And the PCs could have a lodge already. They're veterans of the first Rippers campaign where they served as supporting cast members. For a Rippers campaign, are there any facets of the setting that you are particularly interested in? Are there other facets that you are less interested in? These are some of the facets I see: Classic horror literature Classic horror monsters Exploration / e xotic locations Lodges Factions Ripper tech / w eird science (steam/electric/gaslight) Victorian culture / history Class system Folklore Magic and powers Conspiracies Action Mystery Combat Savage Worlds game mechanics Character advancement Narrative [Add your own]

For me, I don't know much about Victorian culture/history (I mean, I've read books like Pride and Prejudice, etc, but that's doesn't mean much)...so, personally, I'm interested Classic Horror (lit and monsters), and exploration. As far as my character goes, I'm thinking more along the lines of a cowboy who's seeking adventure, etc. I do like magic, but not sure I'd want to play a magic user of any stripe...but Rippertech...now that I could get behind. :)

Well, Rippers comes with a pretty strong setting IMO. Anything related to the setting I'm pretty keen on -- classic literature/folklore/monster tropes, victorian kitsch, conspiracy & secret societies. I intend to play a magic character I already made previously. I don't hate crunch, but I generally prefer narrative over mechanics. And I'm a sucker for colourful NPCs and a lively world.

Pride & Prejudice is the British Regency period. The Victorian age only started in 1837. :-)

Pierre S. said: Pride & Prejudice is the British Regency period. The Victorian age only started in 1837. :-) Duh...I didn't know the exact year, but yeah...I knew Pride and Prejudice was Regency...that's what I get for posting when I should be in bed. :-/

We're gonna make historical mistakes and there will be anachronisms. I make 'em all the time and I have a graduate degree in history. This Rippers game is more about fun pulp action with some classic horror foes. That said, the Victorian period is pretty rich and I think we want to capture and convey it. Besides, characters like Frankenstein's monster blur the lines as the book was published in 1818 (pre-Vic).
I posted a couple of links for the Rippers campaign: http://roxvillerooster.github.io/roll20_savage_worlds/ http://roxvillerooster.github.io/expectations/ Let me know if you have any comments or concerns. You can also reach me achall@gmail.com I have no Discord server set up for this campaign yet

The Rippers: Resurrected setting rules for "Outsiders" and "Reason" both affect Charisma. In SWADE, Charisma is obsolete. Until I hear how SWADE affects the old Charisma-related edges and hindrances, this is what I am thinking: ## Outsider Instead of the -2 Charisma penalty (SWDEE), the character takes a -1 penalty to Persuasion rolls and she cannot re-roll failed rolls. ## Reason A character with Reason less than 4 suffers a –1 penalty to Persuasion but gains a +1 bonus to Intimidation. If Reason drops to 0, the Persuasion penalty increases to –2 and the Intimidation bonus becomes +2. ## Fright table State: Update to existing rules for fright state Paralyzed: Add Vulnerable Unhinged: Add Distracted Traumatized: Add Distracted Breakdown: Add Distracted and Vulnerable Snapped: Add Distracted and Vulnerable
Hi all I have added the campaign details page at https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/3849007/rippers-darkness-after-dawn Tentative start date is Tuesday, Nov 6 at 8 15 PM Eastern time I could move that to Thursdays if that is when players are more available. As for comms (voice and chat), I am not sure yet. I'm not sold on Discord yet.
That link isn't publicly viewable. As for Discord, it offers push to talk, which is fantastic if you don't want to broadcast (or hear) every sniffle, sneeze, and car alarm that goes off while you play. :-).
It takes a few hours for created games to show up. I learned it the hard way.
... and they need to be set as public to be viewable by those not in the game already
The URL https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/3849007/rippers-darkness-after-dawn should now be publicly available now. Thanks for the heads up, folks.
The game is viewable but still locked and none of the threads are open to posting... What is the plan here?
Thanks Aga IX. Ah. It seems like I should have posted the Looking For Group URL and not the game details URL. https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/136215/rippers-darkness-after-dawn In my defense, I have played and GMed on Roll20 for Savage Worlds but I have never gone this route to find players.
Hi all, We're still looking for 2 more players for the Rippers game. Victorian London in 1895 is the place to be. https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/136215/rippers-darkness-after-dawn Games are planned for Tuesday nights at 20 30 EST to 23 00 EST.
If there is room, I would like to join
I see this is from 4 years go. Any chance of giving this a go again? I've wanted to play Rippers again for sooooooo long.
