Hiya

Hey, I am the new guy.  So first let me say thanks for allowing me to join in on these space hi-jinks,  I look forward to getting back into space.  To that end which version of the rules are we using I have hard copies of most of the editions and e-copies for any that I don't have, following that are there any specific character generation instructions.  Also what kind of characters do we have on the team right now?
I just saw your response to some of my questions in the application thread.
The game runs on the rules published in the second printing of Traveller in 1981.  Character generation takes place during the game, at the start of the session.  Dice rolling and handouts are seen on Roll20 but audio is through Google Hangouts.  Please have a browser capable of effectively using Hangouts.  (So far the only browser we found to have trouble are the ones from Microsoft).  The link to the hangout page will be posted in the game chat room by 7pm.   For a very long time in the game the group has been working jobs in order to build up enough cash for a down payment on a ship they found in a junk yard.  However, only two of the characters has any useful "space" skills.  During the last several sessions they have opened a restaurant,  rescued a kidnapped NPC, discovered and retaken a free-trader that had been previous captured by pirates and caused the shutdown of a factory ship operating on a water world.   Characters die in this game.  Several games ago one player lost his character to a poison spitting "frog".  Another player lost his character after being shot by a laser armed security robot. One last point that I must stress.  What your character can do is of almost no importance.  It's what you do with your character that is!
I dig it, once I saw that this was classic traveler rule-set I was no longer concerned about the roles of the other characters.  My characters fate is entirely in the hands of the dice.  Looking forward to the game I will be ready next Tuesday.  Thanks again.
I've been killed by pirates, OD on alien brain juice, killed by a poisonous frog, kicked off a train (which saved my life), one character betrayed the group and ran off with a favor from the prince. Lots of fun happens in this game!
He's not wrong when he says its what you do with your character. For the most part, my character isn't skilled in anything other than space stuff but she has proven to be useful. Excited to have you.
If you do stupid, you die.  It's much harder than it sounds.  At least for me.
