Formatting-light chat archive

Not sure if the formatting of the chat archive has changed recently, but some of my long running games have large logs that are near impossible to open now.  All of the html formatting and images that get stored in the logs make it so huge as to be impossible for people to access.  There should be some way to get a HTML light or text only version of the chat log without all the extra pictures and stuff linked in.
