But it's more practical when approaching a forum of strangers who are offering support publicly, to seek help in the way they are actually offering to provide it: publicly, on the forum. You are not alone: the questions you have, others probably have them too. When you ask for help publicly, and others help you out, you are both providing a service for the community. Other people who have the same issues will see your questions and learn the answers. It's just better for everyone to do it this way.
