Meridian
Engineering Opens Fully Automated Factory

Corona)
Mayor Livingston cut the ribbon
and declared the state of the art electronics factory open for production. This
revolutionary factory can turn out ten time the production of similar
facilities and requires only a single human operator. Yes, you read that
correctly, this ten thousand square foot factory can operate 24-hours a day 365
days a year with only a single soul on site.
Even security is automated. More
than a dozen Armbruster security robots and drones will provide impenetrable
protection for the robotic factory.
The factory is the brain child
of James Hamon. The materials used in the devices fashioned here are extremely
hazardous but the products are essential to the development of space, low earth
orbit and beyond. In order to met the growing demand for such materials by
organizations like Blue Origin, Copenhagen Suborbitals, and even NASA
production can not be halted.
In order that development can
continue safely human beings need to keep at a fair distance.
Labor unions and others
protested the factory. If this is successful the same processes will all but
eliminate the need for production line workers across the board. They claim
that Meridian’s Frankenstein Factory will cause
unemployment to skyrocket, suppress demand and salary for technical production
workers, and help destroy what remains of America’s manufacturing economy.

Battles Bot
Is Genocide Back With A Vengeance?

City)
New York , or at least Brooklyn, has a team of heroes defending it.
For a second time in less than a week a gigantic
robot was on the prowl looking for victims. Not that this isn’t odd enough but
the machine was pursuing a woman who has been identified as one of the exotic
dancers who went missing after the massacre at the Boom-Boom Room.
The woman, whose name is being withheld, credits her
rescue to the Brooklyn Brigade, the newest (and only) superhero team on the
east coast. The membership pf the Brooklyn Brigade includes Crimson Knight
(their leader) and Mighty Girl. Two other members of the team have not had
their names released to the press.
PART has taken custody of the two animal-men and
possession of the robot remains. Except for being of comparable size there are
no similarities between these robots and the repurposed Minutemen Robots used
by Genocide.

OPSEK Crash
Prediction Of When and Where
(Washington DC)
NASA, with
support from Russia
and the United Nations, has narrowed the expected landfall of the failing OPSEK
space station. As reported on May 18 the first module of a Russian space
station failed to reach its intended orbit and will be returning to Earth in an
uncontrolled reentry.
This OPSEK
module weighs several tons and contains a ‘small’ fissionable care intended to
power the station for ‘many years’.
Current
models for the descent predict that it will return to Earth June 30 th
or possibly June 31 st . If the orbital decay remains as predicted it
will make Earth fall in the Atlantic ocean
within 200 miles of the American East coast.

Couple Found Locked in Vault
Near Death
(South Carolina, Branchville)
When First Colonial Bank opened
this morning they discovered an unexpected overnight deposit; a naked couple in
the bank vault. The man and woman were near death from asphyxia and seemed,
overall, to be poorly equipped to be bank robbers. The only thing the pair had
was a very old leather bound book, which they appear to have brought with them.
The young woman and her much
older companion have been taken to the hospital where they are being treated.
Neither one have regained consciousness.
There were no signs on how they
managed to enter the vault. Nothing was damaged nor has anything been
discovered missing.

Dollar Bill, leader and spokes
model for the hero team The Minutemen, called a press conference to address
their concerns about the Brooklyn Brigade.
Dollar Bill, with his lovely sidekick Dollar Girl on
his arm spoke to the press with the rest of the team standing behind them. “It
has been over a year since we have seen any significant activity from Genocide.
Not since the Exodus have they raised their ugly head to endanger the people of
New York, not
until last Wednesday.
“It might be a coincidence that the Brigade formed
at the same time of the resurgence of giant robots stalking our streets, but I
am not a believer in coincidence. The Brigade might be heroic, as they present
themselves to be, but until we know more about them The Minutemen will be on
heightened alert.
“I invite Crimson Knight to come and speak with us,
to explain why he left Georgia.
Why was it necessary to lead these engines of destruction from there to New York? I suspect
these things were hunting him and his friends so he relocated. Is he was trying
to spare his beloved home the whole scale slaughter these machines are capable
of by sacrificing the people of New
York?
“Should he accept my offer of a sit down talk he can
send word to me at the First National Bank of New York, main branch. My shift ends when
the bank closes. There are several places where we can talk nearby
“Thank you.”
And with that Dollar Bill ended the conference. The
Minutemen returned to their usual activities, whatever they are, while Dollar
Bill and Dollar Girl resumed their constant vigil to protect their sponsors.

Alzheimer’s Cured?

“It’s incredible, simply
incredible!” stated Doctor Manfred Barnes head of research at Moreau Bio Industries.
Moreau
Bio Industries has developed a treatment that, in its initial stages, seems
effective in curing or at least halting the progression of Alzheimer’s.
The treatment is still years
away from human testing, and could be a decade or more before it is approved
for widespread use, but it has the most promise in this area, ever.
When questioned about how the
‘cure’ was developed Dr. Barnes would only say that part of the answer came
from material salvaged from prehistoric ice samples and the rest was gleaned
from research involving sharks.

Human Trafficking Alert

A dozen young women were rescued
by the California
division of SAT (Special American Tactics). The girls had been abducted from
several communities throughout California
and were being transported across state lines. Their ultimate destination has
not been released.
Four members of the Arvin
chapter of the Black Muslims are being held in connection with the kidnapping.

Vandals Destroy
Museum of Civil War Inventor and Spiritualist
(New
York, Catskill
Village)
The historic home of Jacob Hopewell and the museum
that honored his work in the field of communications were vandalized last night
in his hometown of Catskill
Village. Several
irreplaceable exhibits were destroyed at both sites and severe structural
damage was wrought throughout both buildings.
Catskill police believe the vandals were ‘kids’ or a
group of scavengers trying, once again, to find pieces of the Hopewell Machine.
Prior to his death in 1875 Jacob Hopewell claimed to have invented a machine
that allowed him to communicate with the dead by means of sending and receiving
photographs.
The only known part of the machine was housed in the
museum until it vanished in 1945.

Superhuman Relief Volunteer Saves Hundreds In Haiti
(Haiti, Delmas Ouest)
Age is no barrier to heroics,
especially if you are super strong.
A deranged cult leader and his
followers attempted to sacrifice the entire population of a relief camp, over a
hundred men, women, and children, to his dark god. The unidentified madman
possessed some degree of power as the weather during the ritual went insane.
Lighting, wind, and rain were only some of the environmental symptoms that
hinted at the destruction that was to come. The clouds above Delmas Quest
formed a tunnel leading skyward ending in a hellish region inhabited by demons.
If not for an old man the loss
of life would have been massive.
He called himself the Warrior,
but the people in the camp knew him as ‘Oscar’. He’d been living there for
months helping with reconstruction after the most recent bouts of earthquakes.
He served food, tended the injured, and gave the rest of the refugees hope when
hope was in short supply.
Witnesses say that he walked
easily against the hurricane force winds the cultist summoned. He brushed
through the army of disciples like a man wading into a calm sea. When he
reached the cult leader the heavens unleashed a barrage of lighting bolts on
Oscar. He was staggered but he did not fall. With mighty hands he reached out
and grabbed the cult leader by the head and turned it 360 degrees on his neck.
The storm died with the cult leader’s last breath.
Oscar turned to the people he saved and said he was
a warrior who had grown sick of war. He regretted that he had to leave. He’d
taken a life and now he had to disappear. The Warrior said he would return
someday, maybe in a century or so, when the authorities were no longer interested
in him.
