[Interest Check] VtM Sunday 8PM (-6 GMT)

So, I've seen several people looking for VtM games, recently. I am an inexperienced ST, but would be willing to try if we have enough interest in the game. I'm well versed on VtM itself, and several other rule sets from WoD. So, if we get enough interest it'd be possible for me to run a game. I'd like to discuss desired powerlevel/age/stye/sect etc more with interested players before I start thinking of general setting/plot points.

Sure, as long as it's Camarilla Clans and vampires only.
Well, most vampire clans have some antribu in the Camarilla, if its not their natural home, so that doesn't limit very much, with a few exceptions.
How many players are you looking for ? Short term or Long term game, assuming all goes well ? Text based or Voice based chat ? Willing to work with players with only limited experience in the system or do you want veterans only ? What's the theme of the story you'd like to run ? Intrigue ? Action ? Horror ? If you're looking for at least two more players (I come with a friend!) with some (but not lots) of experience for a long term game (assuming all goes well) played strictly in text chat, we'd be happy to take a peek if the game is gonna be story driven. =) If not, I'm sure other players who peek at this thread would love to know what you had in mind anyway !
I've been trying to find a VtM game for a while now. I know most the lore, rules, and other basic things. Do you allow a mixed race game? (Black Spirals/Were-spiders and Vampires)
K. Bottom up. So, as far as PCs are concerned I'd say strictly Vampires. I'm not a huge fan of Shifter lore in WoD, and because of that I'm not familiar with many of their rules. It doesn't fit well in the cogs of all the other systems lore, it is nearly impossible to reconcile it. So, if there are shifters in the game they will be NPCs/Enemies. The story will be player driven, their decisions will effect the type of gameplay. For instance, If a Ventrue is making power plays, there will be lots of intrigue, if these adventurers want to hunt down Methusalah for whatever reason, it will likely go horror/action. I will introduce a setting depending upon how the story is progressing, and I will introduce plot points which can be entirely ignored, if the players wish. I'm fine with people of any experience level, I will help them every step of the way, and I'm sure most of the group would share this. VtM is a great game, and not enough people have played it. It encourages bad storytellers who railroad things...which I'm not a fan of, so I intend not to do these things. Chat, I'm undecided on. I like Voiced based games because of the speed of things, however, I'm far more capable of being articulate and poetic in text. It'll go to a majority vote, probably. Long Term, assuming all goes well. My ideal number would be five, as most things in the game can be covered with this number.

Well my friend and I would be happy to join a setup discussion whenever you're ready to hold one, to see if things jive with us and any other players ^^ Although we'd need text chat only for a few reasons (Poetic License, lack of equipment and the convinenenece of being able to multi task). We're quite proficient at text basted chats and no slouchers when it comes to the typing speed.
Well. I can discuss it here. It'll provide information for everyone. So thus far we have interest shown in Camarilla only Text-based. Long-Term Any other thoughts?
A thought: Low blood potency/experience to start ? While we've got a grasp on the system, playing newly turned childe would make up for any lack we have of OOC lore ^^ Unless of course there's an easy way to mix high and low experience ? Or perhaps the children of more potent vampires are themselves at a greater advantage compared to the spawn of weaker blood ?
Blood potency has nothing to do with age if that is what you are saying, Wolf. A Vampire can have a lower gen then the prince but still be weaker. A lower blood potency just means a higher limit to your power. Also can we text and voice as I have horrid typing speed. Useing a mic would be nicer for me as I can get into character more with voice. Also, antitribu are allowed, yes?
Well, Generation Limits is crazy. Nothing makes you a bigger target than being a Low Gen Neonate, because you're a potential threat down the line. That is, unless someone decides you're useful. If you all want to be equal power scales, than we should decide on one...if you're okay with different stats/exp I'm okay with it too. Neonates and younger vampires will recieve experience at a higher rate than elders, for instance.
I'm not ousting Antribu. I'm up for allowing anything you people want...so, I'd be fine with Antribu, your character will suffer whatever consequences there are for being such, however.
Alright cool. I was thinking of a Ravnos or Assamite. I also had a Tzimisce in mind but still have not worked out how he would play. But ya, knowing they are not out the door is nice. Anyway, can I get an idea of where the setting will be as in county/city if you have that in mind?

Like I said, I've not formulated any plans, as of yet. I'm not opposed to doing V20 or Dark Ages, or whatever you guys want...Haha. If its a Camarilla City in the US I'd prefer it be on the West Coast. Farthest from the Sabbat, with Mexico City, Montreal, and New York being Sabbat controlled. The East Coast just goes to hell when there is a siege.
I would like a Final Nights game more then Dark Ages. Simply because of my dislike of Werewolf lore during the Dark Ages.
Meh, I hate them both. And Gehenna.
Unfortunately it looks like start would be 4AM for me :( Ah well best of luck to you.
The time isn't set yet. So, if anyone interested would post available schedules that'd be good. As I'm free all day on Sundays.
Me and my lovely friend have schedules that are more or less a regular 9-5 in the EST time zone ! Sunday is mostly free, although due to work/classes in the morning it'd be nice if daylight hour start time were an option !
Also, in retrospect it seems we have books for Vampire the Requiem, drat ! Just tell me if I need to hunt down something else, we're not terribly sure what the differences are in the rule sets.
VtR has diffrent clans, some stats are changed, you don't get stronger blood from age, and a few other things.
Oh boy, Brent is gonna GM a game. GUYS, PLAY A LASOMBRA! DO IT!
Haha, I'm thinking about it. But..I do love Lasombra.

The only gripe I have with text-based is that it takes a considerable amount of time to perform anything, as you're always moving at the speed of the slowest person involved. However, on the flip side you get a little time to reflect upon the situation in between responses, and if you're good enough you can multitask and no one else will be the wiser. My recommendation is to set up an email group to handle the character creation situation and "downtime", wherein individuals might role play without needing to roll dice, allowing people to type out a lengthy soliloquy or speech. Additionally it allows for people to reflect on what is occuring within the game.
That is my problem with text based as well.
True, but keeping up with the organization can help to mitigate down time, and you only infrequently have to deal with everyone in sequence. Then again I'm biased in that regard and happen to type at 100wpm (on a good day). But, a list of Pros and Cons that I see: Pros: - Quality: You have a chance to think about what you're saying, even as you're saying it instead of being limited to whatever comes out at the time. It allows for more eloquence and sophistication in speech and action than you normally would without having a chance to review what you wanted to say before you hit the enter key. - Mulitasking: You're not tethered to the table at all times. You can get up to start some tea or use the bathroom without missing a beat. You just scroll up and see what was missed in the last minute or two since you had your eyeballs elsewhere. - Concurrency: You can have everyone type something up at the same time and more times than not you don't have to compensate for something that someone else did that you might have contradicted or repeated. This tends to work out far better than two people trying to talk over one another. Thanks to this, the shy person in the group won't also have to fight for attention, they type out whatever they want when they want it so facetime is spread out more evenly by willingness to participate, not willingness to speak up first/interrupt. (This isn't always the case but there's always someone at a table top who gets in a fraction of facetime compared to the more vocal members.) - Physical Limitations: You don't need a microphone/etc as additional equipment which, more often than not, is of cheap quality and becomes especially obvious when combined when encoded by free and bandwidth optimizing codecs. Lisps and accents don't get in the way either, nor hearing issues or speech impediments. - Peace of mind: You don't have to listen to random strangers ! Granted, this isn't as big an issue in an intimate chat setting with a closed group of people who often play together, but you can have your own music or media playing for a clam peace of mind. The worst thing to have happened to modern day gaming was the inclusion of voice chat, at least for me, but this is quickly becoming a rant against video games so I'll stop there. - Editing: Whoops, nope, that sounds kinda stupid now that I see it for myself, lets try that again and not embarrass myself/waste others times with something silly and ill thought (or perhaps lacking fact checking.) See Quality. Cons: - Time: Typing takes longer, so scenes take longer. This can be combated with longer sessions which end up being less cumbersome since you can still multi-task with low-attention tasks at the same time when you're not performing some action. But there is more waiting. - Method Acting: It's a little harder to express the difference between characters when you have no vocal inflections and accents, but this can be mitigated with good descriptive narrative. That's all I can think of at the moment !
Ohh, one more con in retrospect: - Wall of Text: Then again, preferable to Droning Monologue.
Down side is everyone is typing at once and speaks at once, instead of a flow.
I type at 120 wpm on a good day, cause I've text roleplayed forever, but yeah. Haha. I say we can mash it together, if you guys are capable of listening. Down Side: Less empathy. Hearing people's voice allows you to feel like you know them easier. You can empathize with their inflection.:
120 ?! Wowsers ^^ What kind of keyboard?
Dell. Hah.
So, I need one more who can make game on Tuesdays, tonight will be the session zero for that at 6PM (-6GMT/CST) If your'e interested shoot me a message.
