Issues with the R20 Jukebox: Update

(Second paragraph is actual bug report, background in first paragraph) So just over a week ago I made a post on this forum reporting issues with R20 Fanburst Music player, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a member of the R20 Mod team respond within a half hour of me posting my report. Soon after Stephanie B. of the official R20 Team responded backing up what the Mod Team member had said, which can be summed up with "Fanburst is just unreliable at best". While kind of sucky to hear, it's out of their control and they were quick to direct me towards the R20 Dev Server (That I can access as a Pro Member) and ask me to experiment with the Custom Music Upload feature. Overall it works great with some small technical bugs, but it is a beta feature. I was then again surprised by the level of professionalism, detail, and the speed at which I received another response from Stephanie when I inquired about possibly using other sites (Spotify, SoundCloud, YouTube, etc), which can be summed up as "They each have their own reasons we can't use them". The original post can be found here:&nbsp; <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/7036594/issues-with-the-r20-jukebox/?pageforid=7036594#post-7036594" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/7036594/issues-with-the-r20-jukebox/?pageforid=7036594#post-7036594</a> So my post here is actually an addition to that as I have some more possibly relevant details with my yet persistent issue. So last night I was running a campaign of mine, and I accidentally clicked play on a music file despite knowing they don't play, and much to my suprise most of my players could hear it perfectly fine. I actually heard it echo through one of their mics (we play over Discord). I found that extremely odd and i'm not sure if it actually has any impact on the issue itself, or is just a selective bug that only I am experiencing. Either way, I figured i'd report it due to the rather odd nature of it, and in a hopes that my feedback can somehow inadvertently help the member of the R20 team improve on the feature in the future in any capacity.

When you say you "clicked play on a music file" you mean in the Jukebox or on some desktop music player? If it was a Fanburst file, they seem to be mostly operable at the moment. And thanks for the kind words!

Hi Oneside, This is a bug that I've had reported to me several times as the developer of the Roll20 Audio Master API script. I believe it has something to do with the connection to the provider of the music, but don't know for sure.
Keith, when I say "Clicked to play the music file" I was referring to when I click on the Play Button in the Jukebox Menu for music that has already been added to the game's music list. Typically it would play the music file globally for everyone to hear, but a few of my players could hear it, and I could hear it through one of their mics from Discord as a faint echo. To test this a bit farther I did go to the actual Fanburst website and play the exact same tracks (via clicking the Cloud Icon in the list and actual searching on the site itself) and I found that playback on the actual Fanburst website seems to work flawlessly. I did this with two dozen of the tracks I am currently using in one of my campaigns and none of them actually work in game. I've even messed with my Computer and browse settings not only with Google Chrome (my usual browser) but also with Safari, and even tried using Chrome, Bing, anf FireFox on another computer and the issue seems to persist, and I did do backchecking with 6 tracks per browser on all alternatives aside the original Chrome backtrack where I tested two dozen. I am no software expert, let alone a skilled coder who could think of tackling a complex API like the one that allows the R20 Jukebox to utilize FanBurst functionality, but the issue seems to lie in the API, or perhaps with R20s Playback of the files as the Jukebox registers that the tracks are playing, and actively displays them to myself and my players as it should, however some of us just don't get the actual audio playback. Hopefully this has been helpful to some extent in trying to trace the issue.

Onside Aura, if you would care to pursue this, feel free to go through the troubleshooting steps, particularly getting the log from Step 4 . That gives a lot of nuts and bolts information to the dev team about what is going on with your particular situation. Guide to&nbsp; Solving Technical Issues . Step 1: Make sure to use the right browser Please check if these issues persist when using both Chrome&nbsp; and&nbsp; Firefox. Step 2: Ensure that there are no extensions/addons interfering with Roll20 Please disable&nbsp; all&nbsp; add-ons/extensions. Step 3: Clear your cache If none of the above succeeds, please thoroughly work through&nbsp; Step 4 .&nbsp; (Don't forget the complete Console Log!)
