Improved Zoom Functionality

Are there any plans to overhaul the ALT + mouse wheel zoom (or any other method of zooming) functionality? Looking over older topics, it seemed to be something that was being looked at last summer but I haven't seen anything more about it officially. Currently, using ALT+scroll wheel will cause you to zoom in or out without problem but it will cause you to jump wildly around the map. This makes ease of use more difficult, takes time away from actual gameplay, adds to player and GM frustration, and tends to keep people zoomed out further to avoid losing their bearings on certain maps.
As I said, I am not necessarily beholden to using the scroll wheel, but allowing the mouse pointer to act as an anchor for the zoom would be great. Being able to quickly move between player tokens with hotkeys, zoom in and out on tokens or objects, etc would greatly help map navigation, imho.

This sounds very useful.

As an alternative or an appendum, perhaps a key that you could hold to move around? Alt-mouse wheel to zoom, alt+click+drag to move the page?

EDIT: Okay, I'm a n00b. :) Right-click does this.
Yes, I'm fine with moving around on any given zoom level, but quickly moving in and out to a specific point without it jumping away from the place I'm trying to see closer is the problem. I'm generally trying to zoom in to where the characters (or possibly enemies or other objects) are located. So if I can zoom in to the correct level and then hit a key to snap to a token's location without having to manually search, I would be happy. Otherwise, targeted zooming would be ideal

Hi Doug, this problem of how the map does not stay centered on your token or immediate environs when you zoom in and out has been raised in other threads, and IMO should be on top of the to-do list for the devs. This isn't just a bell or whistle, it's a fundamental mechanic that DOES waste gameplay group time, which at my chapter in life with kids, etc is hard to get.
