Is it allowed or copyright issue to recreate a purchased softback module in Roll20 for a campaign?

I am working on creating a campaign (private not for sell) using the original DragonLance modules I own from back in the day. I am converting it to 5e in Roll20. I am not planning on sharing it outside just want to play it with people. What is the rules of posting for players wanted? I assume this is ok as long as I am citing the source and not selling, but wanted to check.

If im not mistaken, as long as it is for personal use and not shared/sold anywere, you are fine to do what you want.

That would fall under fair use.

You're generally free to do what you want in personal games :) Within reason of course. For your stated case, that's no problem at all. We really prefer to stay out of things unless it brings legal risk upon us or is blatantly ripping off creators. So long as your LFG posts aren't something like "Come join my game where you can download all of these Dragonlance book scans for FREE lol", you're pretty golden! Enjoy!

Thanks All
hey, Mike, I'd kinda like to play in that game, or something much like it. Kind of jealous.

On this subject, take the above example, and add a paid GM. How would that work?

Same rules. If you've purchased the content legally (from us or elsewhere), you're free to run it with any group you'd like. Private agreements between involved parties about who GMs and why is between you, same as it would at your kitchen / cafe / convention table. Common use scenarios are all fine. Things only start to get abusive once content is being copied or exported to non-owners, or for non-common use scenarios such as making a game in order to invite dozens of users in to be able to grab the content in order to avoid supporting the creator. It's extremely rare for there to be a problem in common use play scenarios, and they are generally quite obvious if there are. If you ever feel you're entering territory that's edging on abusing a creators rights, feel free to reach out to team@roll20.net as well for guidance or assurance :)
