2nd Edition ad&d Judge needs help with macros for a spell book

So I'm new to Roll20 on a free account. I'm the GM and working on a campaign for my players that have been with me in real life for years but live far away from each other now. I've done my research, read Roll20 macro wiki about default macros and watch as much youtube videos as I could. (Lots of 5E stuff, don't translate well to 2nd edition.) I'm using the simple character sheet. I understand how to make inline macros, how to create Abilities on the character sheets, and if I slam my head into the desk enough I usually get things to work. But when it comes to how to make the Spell book I want to work, I don't even know where to start. What I want is a regular macro or a character ability macro (upper right corner) that says spellbook. When selected it would create a chat window with clickable boxes in it. (Much like in the Taking 20's Roll20 Master Series where he used Nesting Macro's to put clickable dice buttons in a box in a chat window) When I tried it on my own based on a few videos I watched, it just didn't work. Anybody on here that knows a lot more then me willing to help?

I can't speak to the content of the macros, since I jumped from 1ed to 5ed with only a toe dabble along the way. However, structurally, I would suggest meshing two Stupid Tricks: A Macro Sheet that holds all your spells. If the macro references an attribute on the player's sheet, make sure that any attributes are written as @{selected|attribute} so that they are pulled from the character, and not the Macro Sheet. I would suggest one Ability (character macro) for each spell. This adds two key benefits. The code is centralized, in case you need to edit, and the code is mobile--it can be moved from game to game with the Character Vault or Transmogrifier. A Chat Menu . If you want each character to have their own spellbook that only displays their spells, they would each need their own chat menu. Otherwise a master chat menu could be built on the Macro Sheet. Look over the tricks, and if you have some specific questions or need clarifications or help with specific code, post back here with them.
Another Option from the Stupid Tricks thread is to use the Journal Command Button.. Works like a charm and open quicker than a character sheet as well..
Thx, I'll give this a try. Cool if I hit you up on this thread if I have anymore questions on this topic?
