LFP - Interest Check - Attack on Titan (Fri/Sat/Sun)

I'm interested in the possibility of GMing an adventure based on the Anime/Manga "Attack on Titan" that came out some time ago. The ruleset is not determined yet. I'd like run something like 4-6 sessions with 4-6 players, meeting Friday evening, Saturday or Sunday. Right now, this is primarily an interest check, but I'll definitely get in touch with folks who respond here and we'll see if we can make it happen! -Two's Company
i'd play it, it'd be a way for me the whole giantslayer concept done even if it isn't a halfling or gnome.

Sound like a interesting scenario but I prefer a rule set that doesn't have me juggle a bunch of number.
@ Meur I definitely agree. It would need to be as streamlined as possible.
Me and another player would be interested in this.
Interested. Hit me up
I'd be interested too!
I would be interested depending on the ruleset (Im not overly familiar with a bunch of them, but I of course would be willing to learn!)
If you're going to use the Pathfinder ruleset, or a variation thereof, the I would most certainly be interested in joining, you can contact me at <a href="mailto:michaelthenson@gmail.com" rel="nofollow">michaelthenson@gmail.com</a>
I'm definitely interested. If it's a Sunday game and you still have open spots, let me know!
Are you going to use a variation or a completely homebrew system?
I have a friday evening campaign so I could do friday day or saterday day right now but even if I am not considered this system I think is best for it since it seems fairly sound and you don't juggle a ton of numbers. <a href="https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2TrHNlaGeRpbThGdm" rel="nofollow">https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2TrHNlaGeRpbThGdm</a>...
Whoa, looks like a lot of interest! I'll look into this more seriously. It'll be a few weeks probably before anything gets kicked off. @ Toketsu-shi I saw that system posted on the other Titan post. It looked pretty functional. I was thinking something like that, but likely with some homebrew tweaks. Have you played the system as it is there? I'd be interested to hear about how it played. @ Bryan S. Likely a variation. If I can't find something that easily tweaks to a playable Titan system, I'll go ahead and make something from scratch (probably based on what I know best - d20 system) I'll keep you all posted on this. I'd be very interested in hearing if anyone *has* played a Titan game and what they liked/disliked about it. -Two's
Just gon' chime in here and say that the Titan World system is a *World hack, or better put, a variation on the Dungeon World system, which I have played in pretty extensively, it is a pretty good system, a bit more roll heavy than FATE, but extremely solid and fun to use.
I'd love to join you guys if you have room for another. I myself would vote on the titan world system. I never played it myself but familiarized myself with it (I was in a group that was gonna play it but that never happened :( ) and thought it would be pretty interesting.
Sounds fun
This sounds like great fun. However I'm pretty 'noob'ish to the tabletop roleplaying scene. and I'm also on Australian time T-T. anyways probably won't participate if this does in fact go ahead, just wanted to express congratulations on the great idea, sounds like a lot of fun.
I would be interested in trying this out when you are ready to play. Titan World system looks fairly simple if I read it properly and understood it. Pretty much 2d6 die roll + your attribute to complete rolls. You could GM it more loosely even, as it seems like rolls are mostly needed only during combat. I am not a fan of a more basic system like this, but for this type of game, where the roll gives you an Advantage or Disadvantage to strike or kill your opponent ( Titan.) Or you escape an attack and end up in a positive or negative situation afterward. That is pretty fun, as it represents the harshness and brutal death filled world of Attack on Titan. I think since I am not familiar with where this rule system comes from, I do not understand what happens if you roll less than a 7? I guess you die or fail ? xD Seems pretty short lived, I would be still interested to play haha, at least to try it out. The hardest part might be the campaign itself? Attack on Titan story is pretty straight forward and pretty short lived and to my knowledge about the series, currently has no ending. I think it would be both fun to play, and hard to run as a GM, trying to satisfy fans of the Anime Series and Manga. But I think pulling off a campaign and playing a game based in the Attack on Titan world you can do fairly easy, its a pretty simple backdrop, that gets more complicated later. I look forward to possibly playing!
@ Two's I'll keep you all posted on this. I'd be very interested in hearing if anyone *has* played a Titan game and what they liked/disliked about it. -Two's ( I meant to post this also sorry!) I havent played a Titan game before - ( if you are referring to Attack on Titan scenario. and not the rule set) . The downside to this rule set, or the game at the moment seems like its most combat or tactical game, with a short life expectancy. Meaning those who enjoy developing a character and a good amount of RolePlaying might be left unsatisfied. There are also no additional skills it seems for things that might increase RP content. The Titan World system seems to be good for this though. Quick actions, quick decisions, live or die, or narrowly escape or succeed. A good basic system for a brutal and harsh world like the Attack on Titan series. Characters can be made quick and fast, and death is understood to be common. This makes surviving quite more enjoyable, or could. If you use another rule system, with lots extra skills an such, it leads to longer and more time consuming character development. Which makes death annoying and quite cumbersome. As players enjoy the character more, or put more time into it. And if they are killed off quickly and easily, which is a key part of the Attack on Titan world, they might be more disinclined to play longer. Or the down side is the group becomes powerful main characters with noobs dying left an right along side them. This is sorta contradictory to the Attack on Titan world. It also lowers the feeling granted from surviving a Titan encounter, Titans will not be the large threat that the series truley makes them feel like. Just comments. ^__^ Hopefully give you ideas or are a help!
Hey Chuck, Thanks for stopping by and posting. There's a bunch of really cool ideas in there and good thoughts on roll vs role in this setting. At this point I'm pretty sure I'm going to be going with a modded version of the Titan ruleset. My understanding regarding character development is basically this: As the characters level up and progress we learn more and more about their backstories. Their liklihood of death decreases, but they are also presented with more responsibilities and different challenges as they become more established members of whichever corps they join. I would really like to see the players reaching a point where they are commanding a squad of NPCs less powerful than themselves. I think this could add a very interesting element to the game where the PCs (who are now fairly powerful) would have to expend resources to keep other soldiers alive. This way, even if the PCs are difficult to kill, the Titans still have a feeling of inevitability about them, as the PCs will rarely go through missions without (sometimes severe) losses. Again, thanks for your thoughts! Best, Two's Company
Nice. It sounds like a good game idea. This has got me watching the series again, hehe.
I like the idea, but I think you keep american hours, don't you?
"We've come for your daughter Chuck!' (sorry couldn't resist) Hi chuck, I would absolutely love to play!! I am a HUGE fan of the series, and I think it would make for epic battles and storytelling. I have XP with a few diff RP games, DnD 3.0-3.5, StarWars, Hunter: The Reckoning, Werewolf, and Vampire the Masquerade. Have been RPing now for 13yrs aprox. so i would definitely not consider myself a noob, although i am one to this site. Please let me know if you have any more open slots for this campaign, also what time/times would you play and on what day/days? Feel free to reach me at <a href="mailto:jessrhohimer@gmail.com" rel="nofollow">jessrhohimer@gmail.com</a>, and tyvm! :)
A couple of notes: This is going to happen! However, it will not be starting up for probably another month - I apologize. I like to give myself enough time to plan everything out beforehand and I'm making a few changes to the Titan Ruleset shown above. @ Torama - I'm on the West Coast of the US, so that puts my operating hours between 13:00GMT and 06:00GMT (6am-11pm, PDT). On the to-do-list before I can get the adventure up and running 1. Read the Manga 2. Re-watch Anime 3. Modify existing ruleset (slightly) 4. Test new ruleset 5. Develop adventure concept (plot, tie-ins with Manga and Anime) 6. Create Roll20 mapping for adventure 7. Create Macros and API scripts These aren't necessarily in order, but I'd like to get all of these done before starting up the session. Again, thanks to everyone for expressing interest! -Two's Company
