Dynamic lighting

Forgive me if this question is already answered somewhere else; I did a search but did not see anything that looked relevant.  First, I should say that I DM a live group; we use Roll20 only for the maps. No other players have accounts. When we play, I have two tabs open, one in DM view and one in player view (same account). I'm trying to use DL with FoW but not Advanced FoW because I want areas the characters have explored to go dark again after they leave (I'm trying to encourage map and note taking). I created a few tokens with lighting (torch, knight, etc.) and tested them hitting control + L. Everything looked like it was working perfectly.  However, when I duplicate my tab (chrome) and re-join game as a player, the DL + FoW is not working. Everything is pitch black. I can see the tokens, and move them, but no light shows.  Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you actually revealed any areas? Fog of War starts with a default of entirely covered. As a GM, even using Ctrl-L, you have the ability to see through it, depending on our opacity settings.
The other problem could be that you have not selected the token to "have sight" in the advanced tab of the tokens

Are you saying that I still have to reveal areas manually even with the DL on? I've watched the Taking20 video  and it seems like his works without him having to reveal areas manually (although the video is old; maybe things have changed?) Is there actually a way to set the system up how I want? Dynamic lighting that reveals areas but automatically hides areas when the characters move away?
Ok, I seem to have fixed it.. I turned FoW off and Advanced FoW on, but this time, I changed the 'Size' of the Advanced FoW to 40, turned OFF 'Show Grid' and 'Dim Light Reveals'. Now I get the effect I want: the light reveals the map but hides it again as it moves away. Hopefully this exercise can help someone else not feel the frustration that I felt, some day.
