Possible to play D&D if mute?

As in mute IRL. Is it possible to play if I'm mute (especially if I'm a newbie)? Been scrolling through some of the LFG and it seems to be all voice-chat. And from what I understand people use their voice to get in character etc. 

There is certainly a large base of users who choose to play by text only, check out this group dedicated to such play (or maybe this one , not sure if both are active). Also, it is worth checking the LFG games even if listed as voice chat. A lot of DMs run games with voice for out of character chat and the actual game is only played via the text chat. I'm sure DMs of such games would be more than happy to accommodate a solution to enable out of character chat options via the text chat. Failing ALL of that, you could always open your own LFG post stating any particular needs and requirements... its a big community, your perfect group is out there somewhere :)

Hello Scribblz. I'm the creator of the group that Ziechael mentioned and you are very welcomed to join our community. Many of our members have hearing or vocal impediments that restrict or limit their playing in voice based games. We function as a specialized support group for people that prefer or require text to game. There are multiple games recruiting in our forums, some are live sessions, some are play by post. We have many threads dedicated to tips and suggestions on how to play or run text based games.

Now that I'm home and have better access to bookmarks and such. This is from a pinned thread in the Knight's community. It is a listing of every current text game on Roll20. What this entails is a roll20 game listing search with the following filters. : text welcomes new players free english language mature content The reason for those filters is that most of the community members read english (I hope), are here to find text games, many members are new to the hobby, and pay to play games can do their own advertising, in my opinion. The mature content is included due to some members do like some mature content in their games (I don't favor it but that is my personal preference). I hope this helps you find a game. If you wish please consider joining us for we are a friendly and helpful group. I believe there is a handful of games recruiting currently also.
