Traveller Notes Jan 29th, 2019 Travellers : Koral [Cory] Thea [Dylan] Bishop [Alex] Y295.10.1 The Travellers are at the village of Cornette located in the dessert on the planet Quartermark. The orson Squalis is finally fit enough to travel and the group wants to take him the Marka farm just North of the Great Sea. After being assured by the medics at Corette the Travellers secure Squalis, in his wet-suit, into the air/raft cargo area and take off. Koral is flying. Thea calls ahead to verify and confirm their arrival. Following Thea’s directions Koral has no problems flying to the farm and later that evening sets the air/raft down between the housing units. The arrival of the Travellers at the farm almost always causes a holiday like atmosphere among the Efray. Y295.10.2 Marka discusses the business of the farm with Thea, who is a minor owner of the farm. He pays her Cr7,000, her share of the profits for the Y294. Several of the immature Efray want the Travellers to visit “Tamir”. Taking the farmers air/raft they all travel across the canal to the Da-Ren farm where they meet Yaga and her young cub Tamir, named after an extraordinary Efray of the same name, who was a good friend to Yaga and her brother. Yaga mentions to the Travellers that she hasn’t heard from her brother in more than a year. And while there is no cause for concern yet, the Travellers know that her brother, Damien, is twelve parsecs away, they agree that they might want to look into finding him. After allowing the Efray young to play with Tamir the Travellers take them back their own farm and spend one last peaceful night before heading out again knowing that the orson will be safely looked after by their friends until he is ready to make the return trip to Median in the Keystone system. Y295.10.3 Koral flys the Travellers to Quartermark Down in their rented air/raft. Thea has him land at the Churchgates, an exclusive restaurant in which she has partial ownership. Koral and Bishop most likely would never receive service in a place such as Churchgates due to their modest Social Standing. Thea meanwhile visits Kandel Taper and relays to him her intelligence on the Tantry system and the possible issues associated with the artificial volcano on Mensah. She asks Taper if he can recommend a Mercenary Company that the Duchess of Quartermark could hire to help defend Median and Count Farwood’s colony from Tantry. He recommends a company out of Durran called “Company Gilmore”. A unit made up of Efray and Orsons that own and operate their own Mercenary Cruiser. Taper asks Thea if she is interested in a short local job. When she agrees he displays on a view screen the image of Sir Quartos Manson who is responsible for the murder of three of Taper’s operatives. He is willing to pay Thea Cr50,000 if she can make certain that Manson is never again in a position to harm any other operative. And if Thea can recover four doses of an experimental drug Manson took from the dead operatives there would be a bonus. It is suspected that Manson is on Quartermark setting up an auction of the drug samples. Thea agrees and returns to Churchgates. --------------------------------- Meanwhile, Koral and Bishop travel to a lower class section of the city. Bishop had been hired to drop off a data drive to someone named Daniel Howard. Bishop knocks on the apartment door but no one answers. The door is unlocked so Bishop and Koral enter. Bishop pulls out his body pistol but loudly announces his name and that he has been sent by Mondo Bits of Mensah. Looking around the apartment Bishop discovers Howard in the bath tube, dead with his throat slit. Due to his medical training Bishop notes that Howard has been dead for only a few days. Searching the body Bishop finds a Body Pistol and a pack of Stammerweed sticks. He pockets both. It’s at this point that Koral discovers a poorly hidden video/audio electric bug. Koral removes the power source but notes that the device has been transmitting video and audio to a receiver within 1 KM. Bishop and Koral then contact the local private security firm that handles crimes within this neighborhood. After being questioned for several hours the two Travellers are released. The security personal having no evidence to accuse them and because neither Bishop nor Koral were evasive or lied when answering questions. Although Koral did not tell them about the electronic bug. While flying back to Churchgates restaurant Koral fails to notice that they are being followed. It takes a high powered rifle shot hitting Bishop before Koral begins attempts to evade their assailants. A second shot from one of two men in the pursuing air/raft slams harmlessly into the dashboard of their air/raft before Koral is able to escape. The two stop at a medical supply store and Koral buys a medical kit. Bishop uses it on himself before they return to Churchgates and inform Thea of their problem. She invites them to assist her in recovering the drug samples and “stopping” Manson. Thea pays for rooms at the Traveller’s Aid Society Hotel. Y295.10.4 Thea and Bishop let Koral use his knowledge and contacts of low class citizens of the city to try and find information on Manson. Thea attempts to discover computer records related to Manson but only discovers that he arrived on Quartermark many weeks ago on the Capital Shuttle from Towers. Thea also contacts Captian Page and suggests that Company Gilmore might be a good unit to have the Duchess hire to protect Median. Koral returns without having discovered any information. Y295.10.5 Koral again tries to use his contacts and pick up information on a high level auctions being conducted “under the table”. This time he has a lead. A man named Bryant, who frequents a dive bar called the Blue Room, is rumoured to have information on a high priced auction taking place in three days. Koral and Bishop visit the Blue Room. Bishop enters first and is to act as backup but he decides to light up the Stammerweek sticks and waste himself. Koral meanwhile enters the bar and makes contact with Bryant and by careful word play and a Cr10,000 bribe convinces the man to accept him as another bidder for the auction. Koral is told to pay Cr50,000 to a man named John John Johnson at the Weston Hotel for a seat at the table. The auction will take place on the night of Y295.11.1. Y295.10.6 Thea buys a bottle of Sober Pills for Bishop so that never again endangers them by getting intoxicated. Y295.10.7 In the morning Koral meets John John Johnson at the Weston Hotel and pays him Cr50,000. J.J.J gives Koral a playing card, the Jack of Diamonds. He rips off a corner and tells Koral that this is his one and only ticket. The auctions is at 10:00 PM and takes place in the hotel penthouse. Koral rents a small room on the same floor as the penthouse. Bishop and Thea arrive. Thea keeps her face hidden from the hotel security cameras. Koral leaves and rents a small room in a dive hotel several kilometers from the Weston. He then buys the parts to construct a small explosive device that should produce a lot of smoke. ----------------------------------- While waiting and making plans in the quality room that Koral rented Thea and Bishop are interrupted by someone knocking on the room door. Thea hides in the closet and starts to put on her combat armor. Bishop pulls his gun but cannot see anyone outside the door. He call hotel security. In short order a uniformed hotel security guard arrives and takes Bishops statement. He informs Bishop that a security camera down the hall has been disabled. He further informs Bishop that they will post a hotel security guard on the floor to increase the safety of their guests. He then leaves. As Thea removes her combat armor and joins Bishop they are startled by a young woman sitting on a chair in the room. She introduces herself as Dreamweaver and assures Thea that she had briefly been a friend to Tamer and Churchgate. And that she was very sad to learn of Churchgate's death. Reassured, Thea and Bishop learn more from Dreamweaver about Manson the the other bidders at his auction.
