I currently have a group (4) of mature, experienced players in a low magic/fantasy, medieval setting. The campaign is fairly dark (GOT, Witcher), focused on problem solving, diplomacy, deadly combat and heroic adventure. Had a couple players leave recently due to schedule and time issues, so we are looking for 1-2 more players. Roll20 License: PRO Game System: HarnMaster, 3rd Ed. HarnMaster is a RPG system that is a challenge to learn (dont be skeerd, its just different), yet very easy to use. It focuses on realism and role-playing rather than theatrics and over-the-top heroics. Combat is deadly. Actually, it is just as likely you will have to retire a character for loss of a limb or disease, as out right death. Time Zone: US, Eastern Standard Time Day of week and time: Tue, 8pm (we have a couple players in PST) Planned start date: We are still getting everyone familiar with the system and the setting. Will gen our first characters next week and start the campaign soon thereafter. Planned Duration & Frequency: 3-4 hours, weekly Term: Long term campaign Text or Voice: Voice Voice software used: Discord Will this be recorded and/or live streamed? Nope Roleplay & Combat mix: Combat in Harn Master is realistic and therefore deadly, so PCs will want to avoid it as much as possible. However, the guys with the swords are the ones who get #$%& done, so combat is usually inevitable. Its up to the players to fight when they've properly stacked the odds in their favor or run away when they're not. Number of Players in game & needed: No more than 4 or 5 players. Due to lethality, would encourage players to have two PCs, so party could be 5-8 in number. I have one player taking on the role of the villain and his/her minions in encounters with the PCs. This person sort of be plays their own campaign to counter the PCs, planning moves, placing forces, etc. This is an experiment, but we are hoping it will help speed up gameplay (particularly combat) and increase the challenge for the main party. Character starting level & equipment: Harn Master doesnt have levels (or classes), the characters are very similar to you or I. They have skills they've learned and get better with more use and training. PCs start their timelines (raw recruit or grizzled veteran) based on the players desires/backstory. Character restrictions: Everyone is Human. Details of your scenario: I have a campaign/sandbox plotline that has the PCs in service of one of the Provincial Governors from one of the countries making up the large island of Harn. They are tasked with quelling a possible uprising in one of the mountain passes of the province that borders a rival kingdom. All sorts of intrigue, mystery, and adventure awaits the party, as they tackle this monumental task and make decisions that could have long reaching implications for their success (i.e. survival). Me: I'm a 49yo US Army officer set to retire in about six months and looking at getting back into tabletop RPGs as a hobby. I played a lot when I was younger and actually spent about 5 months last summer DMing a homebrew/Rise of Tiamet campaign on FG, but work interceded and I had to end it. However, that experience taught me a few valuable lessons. Chiefly, that I prefer roleplay over rollplay and will actively seek games that challenge me on an intellectual level, rather than my luck with die rolling. The dungeon crawl, hack and cast stuff, was great as a young adult but my tastes are a little more complex now. I would very much like to form a long-lasting group of like minded individuals.
