[LFP] Learning the game with Lost Mines of Phandelver. Weekly - EST evenings

Greetings, adventurers! I'm running the starter set (Lost Mines of Phandelver) with potential for some additional story afterwards (though no gurantees) to improve my DM skills and help others learn the game. It is geared towards newer players. - The time stamp is a placeholder! We will play weekly, somewhere between 6-10pm EST, on either Sunday, Monday, Friday, or Saturday. - I anticipate it lasting a couple months with a satisfying conclusion, although I'm open to it continuing longer if more story develops into homebrew territory, but if that happens and you're not interested, you may opt out. - Adult players 18+ that are punctual and have good communication skills. If you know you may need to miss a session, advance notice is required. - Will use Discord for voice, no video. - We will only be using standard classes/races from the PHB. I have several pre-generated if you'd like. - I plan to have a session "0" to discuss character options. Ideally, you're not locked in to a single class, and are open to several options so that we can work together building characters. - I'm running a heroic party campaign, and therefore I'm not interested in evil characters or any major player-versus-player conflict. - My thoughts on PC death: Yep, you can die! Obviously I would certainly never try to kill a PC, but I don't plan to pull punches. Enemies are played true to their own convictions. I've read some campaign ideas and what not, made multiple characters, even working on creating my own race. Not afraid to read up and research whatever I need to.  5. I've been looking for a while to get into a campaign, I have 2 friends interested as well. One is brand new, never played before, and the other has experience DMing. Makeshift shorties, yeah kinda. 5: See above. 6: See no.4 7: 6-8, depending on my mood 8: 7ish 9: Not at all 10: I have a diagnosis of Aspergers, so if I come off as unemotional (character-wise) or unsocial (chat-wise), be aware that it is probably not intentional.

I have been playing since roughly the same time I started middle-school, so probably somewhere in the range of 10+ years ago at this point. 5. Longest campaign you were a part of? An IRL campaign that lasted about the duration of two years. 6. Have you DM'd? If so how long? I have DM'd a few times in the past, though usually these were for one-shots rather than fully fledged campaigns. 7. Rate your interest in roleplaying 1-10 A definite 10; I'd say that roleplaying is the primary interest I have when playing. 8. Rate your interest in combat 1-10 I also enjoy a good combat, but that's less important to me than roleplaying. Perhaps a 7. 9. Do you mind if the DM or another player run your character should you need to miss a session? I don't particularly mind if there is no other solution, though hopefully that wouldn't be required. 10. I've recently been getting into some Forgotten Realms lore, and despite my experience in the hobby, I've never actually played anything in the flagship setting itself. I think this might be a neat opportunity to get some field experience and perhaps roll a type of character that I've not really tried before. The only day that I am decidedly unavailable is Thursday, but other than that, I should be free for all the days you have specified as I only work mornings and I have plenty of time to spare.

Continuing to be part of a 2 month campaign with an expected few more months. 6. Have you DM'd? If so how long? Yes, after our original DM lost interest in being a DM I took over and have been running aforementioned campaign. I enjoy being DM, but also want to try the other side of the screen out. 7. Rate your interest in roleplaying 1-10: 7-8, I enjoy role playing but can struggle a bit with it. 8. Rate your interest in combat 1-10: 9, I enjoy making my character a powerful combatant, the system has allot of intricacies that keep me enthralled. 9. I wouldn't protest, but I would prefer if my character was more just sidelined for the session should I miss it. 10. Anything else you would like me to know about you? To start, I could only work with Monday, as my work makes my Friday-Sunday volatile. I have a history with video games that have expansive lore and have really sunk into the Forgotten Realms DnD world. I have been reading through The Storm King's Thunder to run it for my group and if the Lost Mines of Phandelver are even half as good I'll be one of your most excited and involved PCs.

I'm very fluid when in comes to party play.  I play my character as if I WAS the character and not as a tacticle vtt strategy game.

Just so the above people who posted after me know, I'm definitely up for helping with anything you guys need. I believe in cooperating as a group over playing the hero since the game's more fun if everyone's having fun instead of just me.
