Gun Play, an Explosion and a Really Bad Headache

Traveller Session Feb 5th, 2019 Travellers : Bishop [Alex] Thea [Dylan] Koral [Cory] Malik [Chris] Y295.10.7   Malik, a scientist who had previously worked on the Timaeus Project on Mensah arrives on Quartermark looking for Thea.  He has a message for her from Doctor Chin Zedong, former director of the project. While still at the Adams Port a stranger approaches Malik and quickly says “You will find them at the Weston Hotel”.  The stranger then disappears into a crowd of Da-Ren refugees before Malik can take his measure. With no other options Malik buys a week pass for air/raft taxi service and flies to the Weston. At the Weston Malik looks for a room rented to Thea and Koral.  Not finding them he sits and waits in the hotel lobby. Meanwhile, Koral leaves the room he rented at a flop house 40 minutes away and arrives at the Weston.  He meets Malik in the lobby and takes him up to the groups room on the top floor. Meanwhile Thea and Bishop continue discussions with Dreamweaver, a mysterious woman with equally mysterious powers.  She provided a great deal of intelligence on Sir Quartos Manson and the three bidders coming to his auction. Arriving to bid on the drugs Manson had stolen were Dominga Bentley from Tantry, Sir Seymour Peak a dubious businessman from Crowler and Captain Nigel Reinhart a man that Manson truly feared. Dreamweaver provides Malik with passwords to the the security system that allow him to gain access to the hotel security camera feeds and the hotel registration database with access to door occupancy recognition. Dreamwear also informs the Travellers that Seymour Peak is staying at the hotel one floor below them.  She also tells them the combination to the room vault and that Peak has 700,000 credits stored in it. Y295.11.1    Thea contacts the Churchgates and has them send a message to Peak informing him that Mondo Bits wants a meeting at noon.  Watching through the security cameras he had access to, Malik was able to tell the other Travellers when Peak left his room on the floor below them. Koral and Bishop went to “collect” Peak’s money, stored in the room safe.  Malik makes certain no video of remains of them. Malik also, temporarily, adds Bishop to the doors access file so that he can enter the room. Naturally a shoot out occurs between Bishop, Koral and the one remaining guard in Peak’s room.  Neither Bishop’s body pistol nor Koral’s throwing knife injure the guard but he blasts Koral with a burst from his shot gun. Knowing the fight is going badly Dreamweaver “does something” that causes the guard to experience great pain in his head and then pass out.  Bishop shoots him twice in the head before opening the safe and removing the Cr700,000. Malik removes Bishop from the room access file and adds Sir Manson. Later, the Travellers watch as Peak returns.  He and his remaining two guards leave the room and the hotel rather quickly. Bishop applies medical care to Koral who recovers from the shotgun wounds.   Dreamweaver rests and recovers her strength.  If the bidding can be delayed long enough she thinks she would have the strength to replace the case with the payment for a case with the bomb Koral made the previous night. ---------------------------------- At 10pm Koral presents his playing card, the Jack of Diamonds, and is given access to the bidding.  He skillfully causes minor delay after minor delay irritating Captain Reinhart almost to the point violence.  The bidding starts at Cr500,000 and slowly climbs to the Cr1,000,000. Dominga Bentley from Tantry is the first to leave the table.  Being alone with Koral further angers Captain Reinhart. Having delayed as long as he felt safe and reasonable Koral jumps right to the point and offers Cr2,000,000 for the drug samples.  Reinhart is livid with anger and storms out. At this point Koral is free to delay even longer.  Using his radio he calls for the cash and suggests that he had been prepared to go even higher, possible up to six million credits. Bishop brings the cash to Koral in a case.  Koral very slowly, but without overt intent, counts out the two million credits in cash.  This gives Dreamweaver enough time to recover her strength and agree to make the attempt at switching the money for the bomb. Knowing that the room door must remain open for Dreamwear Koral asks for a reciept after opening the room door.  This causes enough of a delay that Dreamweaver is able to make the switch using her psionic talents. After Koral leaves the room Malik uses his control over the guest registration to remove all door access locking Manson and his four guards in the room.   Within a few minutes an explosion destroys the penthouse and Dreamweaver confirms that Manson was killed. The Travellers make their way down the stairs as the hotel is evacuated.
Good Times.
