Suggestion (Import/Export Character Packs)

Hey there love the compendium for pathfinder. But the lack of support for the less played games is very frustrating. If I may suggest a feature that really shouldn't be too hard. And would really help people collaborate to get games going. Allow us to Pack characters and maps into a file that others can import. I mean does every user on roll20 REALLY have to enter the character sheet for a Goblin archer? Or an Imperial Guardsman?

:D That's called publishing. Roll20 is very careful to engineer their service to protect the rights of publishers and content creators. Allowing users to share large amounts of uncontrolled materials is pretty much a recipe for piracy.
Hi Ramez, Seems that this post was accidentally moved to the archived version of the Suggestions & Ideas forum (before we had the voting system in place). I have properly moved this over to the correct version now. Sorry for the trouble!

Okay cool post is back. I wish to clarify my position. I don't really care about sharing art. As far as I'm concerned hooking up the art I'm allowed to use to the character sheets is the least of my concerns. It's filling in the sheets themselves that's the problem. This is particularly hard on game systems like Dark Heresy and other Warhammer 40k rpg's and games like Shadowrun. It creates an absolutely huge workload for the GM. And I feel that you have all the ingredients on this site to help with that. What I'm talking about is the ability to create character packs that people can download. Without any information on the attached art. Encounter maps would also be a nice thing to share for random encounters. But by far the most egregious time sink is the creation of character sheets. The character vault does help but the system just isn't ubiquitous or connected enough to really prompt the community to use it in anything but the most casual sense. At least that was the impression I got from it. More popular game systems such as DnD and pathfinder have the compendium to help. But there are so many game systems that don't have this. Obviously creating a compendium for every single game system is by no means a practical solution. But something that allows gm's to share their work. I don't think that's a bad idea at all. And I'm not sure copyright concerns would even come into it. As we would not be sharing copyright art. It would be a bit weird for it to be illegal as it would almost make the concept of a tabletop rpg illegal. Since we are only sharing either reformatted character sheets from the game's bestiary. Or character's created ourselves within the game's lore system. I must admit I'm not 100% on the exact legalities of this issue. Being no lawyer myself. But it seems almost like saying it's okay to sue a kid for drawing a picture of mickey mouse.  Of course the waters might get a little muddier with paid dm'ing. I'm not sure myself. It's not something I've ever considered myself. For me tabletop rpg's are an excuse to get together with my friends. I'd have no interest in being paid for it
