The Gaming Format: All games are played on Role20, using the Chat and Dice within the campaign during game time. (For both “in-character” and “out of character texting). We use voice through a third-party system while playing the game. As the game master I use voice for game system situations, and text for narration (and encourage the players to do so as well), players are free to choose either form of communication in most situations, but combat when speaking in character must be done via text during the players turn and they can only respond in a like manner during their turn. Players are not allowed to meta-game, so player cannot give suggestions to other players during combat out of character. (All out of character speech is prohibited during combat, unless addressing the GM about clarification or a question). The Setting: The game begun in contemporary modern time, in game date we began was December 31 st , 2018. This is the day that life dramatically changed on earth. Our campaign begins with the L players either witnessing the loss of power that made all powered devices battery, electronic, nuclear, etc. disappear. This resulted in flying vehicles crashing to the earth, vehicles suddenly shutting off, internet, etc. Or, the H players who were on a cruise ship set for Hawaii entering a sudden uncanny storm that transported the players to a different world, which happened to be like earth geographically, that is where the similarities stopped. The L group who were all in a fancy high-rise hotel’s roof top bar had to deal with getting to safety while the H group dealt with trying to figure out where they were. Since this beginning the players have discovered that the earth had “visitors” who began to kill innocents in the streets during the first night of the power going out. The L players ended up becoming leaders for those around them, as they did whatever they could to survive and help other do the same. The H group found out they were on a planet with alien creatures whose technology far surpassed that of modern-day earth. One group was on survival mode from an unknown danger while the other was trying to figure out how they came to this different world where the locals lived both above and beneath the waves, had people who spoke about historical knowledge of earth, and claimed many humans lived in the world. Fast forwarding to more recent events: both L and H groups are on earth (H group were transported back by the help of another aloof type of alien beings who had at least as much experience as the first group of aliens with a connection to earth). The L group has discovered that an alien race with people who have wings and others that don’t have attacked the earth (or at least Southern California), they have been both trying to discover more about the aliens to relay what they can to the government of the United States which seems to have fallen completely apart. The West coast has been claimed by the aliens, and those unwilling to accept such rule has departed east. Unknowingly while heading east, humans who have been infected by some sort of disease that changes them physically and brings about a desire to eat raw flesh have begun to fest on those in the western desert regions of the united states just west of the aliens claimed territories. The players have come to believe that humans were attacked some weeks or months through flu shots in a target region of the USA, and these “ghouls” are the result. They have no idea how many of these infected humans now roam the deserts and the cities in the region, but they are sure it is in the thousands if not much more. They have also had the chance to meet and speak with some of these aliens a winged male and female who says that they have come to earth to collect things they had left on earth in the distant past. Through their travels they have met up with some military units and bases that prepare to depart east, saying the government has order them to move east and to abandon most of the desert west due to the infected (who are highly contagious) and the aliens. The L group is currently trying to find out what the aliens are after and are in a region hoping to discover the source and if possible, to take it as a future bargaining chip. The H group who spent some time living a high-tech vacation decided to take the opportunity to go home, when winged aliens offered to take the back, if they could. They were not certain it would work, but failure had no danger for them so most of the people on the ship decided to head home, using the same way the came back at sea on their ship, while the aliens that traveled with them used some sort of technological device that actually worked in getting them back on earth and near the islands of Hawaii. The aliens who seemed to stay to themselves (unlike the other aliens who the players think may be the Atlanteans, whom had welcomed and embraced the players from the beginning), once they made it to earth, they flew off to scout out the area. They had approached the players ship, saying they suspected they knew how they had come to their world, and if they were right, the earth may have been in danger. When they returned to the ship, which was hours away from Oahu they told them that they had seen “ghoulish creatures walking and flying on the islands, and the place did not seem to have much in the way of “normal people” around. The captain and crew unable to get any emergency service or communications with anyone else on earth ask for volunteers to go ashore and scout out the area and look for the locals during the next morning. This is when the players who were among the volunteers discovered hundreds if not thousands of people (humans) laying on the beach, half eaten and decade. They were being eaten by dogs and birds who both looked feral and likely sick with some sort of wasting like disease. Their ship is currently on its way back towards the mainland. They decided not to stay too long in Hawaii after finding out that all the military bases on the island had been destroyed. They have no clue what is going on, but they are hoping to get back to Long Beach, Ca (where they had taken off for their Hawaii cruise). Both groups have much to learn and each has the potential to affect the other group. This is a game where the survival of humanity lies in the balance. The players being main characters each trying to survive and or do their best to help their species and country. The campaign is one of discovery and survival in a dystopian type of environment. Much is still unknown and each game session the players learn more. This is a unique campaign, everything has been developed by me personally. While the technological level of humans is that of modern times, the aliens possesses higher technology, there is also magic and psionics in this campaign (although the PCs begin unaware that either is real and possible for some. Some of the players have encountered what we on earth would call mythical beast as well. I guess you can say that this campaign is like Rifts (the rpg), War of the Worlds, and Stargate. A collision of fantasy and science and taking the Ancient Alien theories twisting them and coming up with my own version. This is not a hack and slash game, but combat does happen, and you could very well say that both groups are “adventuring” in a sense. If you are looking to try such a game, or something different this may be the game for you. If you have never played a game where the characters actions and words can have serious consequences on themselves and or the group this may be an “alien” experience. I have been running games like this for many years. Players are challenged in the game to think through things, this is not a game for those who don’t want to think beyond starting trouble or fights. If you want to “act,” be dangled in suspense, learn a story and add to it, this may be the game for you. My name is Mami (that is may-me) and I run games that challenge players. They must know when it is best to run, and when they have no other option but to fight their way out. I try to mix the power level of their situations, some tasks are easy, some are very difficult, and others fall somewhere between the too. There are times when they find something on pure luck, but often, what they get they earn. There is no safety net for PCs in most situations, they do get a few “luck pieces” to help save them from some horrible random tragedy, but those are few and not to be relied on, instead the players must learn to rely on each other, as most situations will require their cooperation to succeed. Players do not need to fight each other in my games, there are more than enough other danger with the setting for that. Players are asked to create character (good or bad moral) so long as they provide a substantial reason for the other PCs to want to travel with that person your character will fit, if you just want to make a character who causes problems for the group or themselves, this is not the game for you. The Players do not have to accept any character another player brings in, like reality, no one is going to be friends with someone just because you as players much constantly provide enough just because, as in this game, you will need to be able to gain the trust of others and to rely on them to watch your back. Links below will take to the individual campaigns being played: Judgement Pacific Theater H https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/139168/judgement-pacific-theater-h Judgement Pacific Theater L https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/126896/judgement-pacific-theater-l
