Getting Started with D&D 5e

We just finished playing the starter kit, Mines of Phandelver. We want to start using Roll 20 because we had issues trying to get our group together on a regular basis. I have a basic account and we are looking to play Curse of Strahd. What things do I need to buy in the market place to get started as the DM? Do I need more than just a basic account? Do I only need the Curse of Strahd Roll 20 book or... Do we need a Player handbook to build character or can I use the print version I own? Do we need the DM guide and Monster Manual or can I use the print versions own? Thanks for the help.

You do not need to purchase anything off the roll20 marketplace as long as you are willing to do all the work. This means if you own the print version and want to use maps, you will have to find digital copies of those maps or scan and upload them. For all the npcs and monsters, you will have to work on their sheets (drop and drag from the compendium helps some on that). It is doable but it is lot of work. If you purchase the module on roll20, it will be all done and ready to be used after you create your game with it. It all depends on how much work you wish to do and your style of game play. If you are mostly theater of the mind and don't use maps much then it might make more sense to use what you already own.

If you are curious, I could let you see a copy of mine not being used. It would have the bells and whistles enabled as I have the pro subscription plan.
