The heroes decide to split up and search for Arthas in the the fungoid jungle, since that was the last place Lor saw him. Once he is out of sight of the others, however, Malak feeds a blue pearl to the skull compass and runs in the direction that it points. Asteris follows him. The compass leads him back through the abandoned troglodyte lair, pass the disabled crushing trap, and into the subterranean highway. Once there, Malak searches a shelf that the party passed earlier, and discovers a secret door. Through that door, he finds a brain ooze feasting on a corpse. The ooze floats into the air an begins attacking Malak and Asteris with pychic blasts! Asteris flees all the way back to the jungle, where she convinces Lor and Nor to come to Malak's aid. By the time they return the brain ooze's lair, however, Malak has already defeated the ooze. They follow his trail through a second secret door, past a room full of rusted filing cabinets, and into a large room full of raw sewage. Malak is waiting there, and as they enter, a huge, tentacled form rises from the filth and greets the companions telepathically. "Greetings. I am the Sewage Prophet. What knowledge or aid do you seek on your quest?" After Lor and Xhotl have both contributed to its hoard of excrement, the Sewage Prophet gives them both a boon and advice. The boon is a wand of summon sewage elemental , and the advice is this: "Return to the fungoid jungle and rescue your companion. His captors hold the key to the Key." The companions follow the Prophet's advice, and return to the jungle. Just across the jungle river, they encounter Elaryan and Eovan, still searching. Seconds later, a band of troglodytes emerges from the underbrush, carrying the bound form of Arthas on a pole! The party attacks, and manage to kill or drive away all of the troglodyte captors. On one of the troglodytes, they discover five goldenrod pearls. Lor remembers that Daimu's vision directed him to find the "golden key", so the party surmises that the key to the portal must be a golden skull. They feed a goldenrod pearl to the skull compass, and sure enough, it gives them a heading. The party follows the compass heading all the way back to the temple of the Sewage Prophet, at which point it indicates that they are very close. Having learned from their earlier search for the red skull, the heroes decide to dimension door straight down. Elarya, Eovan, Malak, and Arthas all hold hands, and leap into the unknown... Malak earns 9,000 XP. Everyone else gains 6,000 XP.
