Advice for joining a D&D Group

Hi there, I'm new to D&D and have only really seen others play, but really want to play the game myself. Having spent the last few days applying for limited slots to running campaigns with no response. Despite the fact these are shown as new players welcome, with so many people to choose from, most of whom who have played before I feel like I wont get a chance to join some ones campaign as DM's are more likely to pick some one who has played before. I just wanted some advice as to how I can get in to playing, maybe my character is too complex to fit into their campaign. End of the day, I'll walking in the dark. If anyone is willing to take on a newbie for a beginner session please let me know.
You are in luck, my good friend, I just had someone drop from my game. https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/152704/spring-madness The Game is Wednesday Nights. If you choose , I will consider you.
Thank you for the offer, however since I work weekdays & I need to be up by 6am its not really a time I can do sadly. Thanks again for considering me. For anyone else responding an ideal start time for me would be 8pm weekdays 4pm Saturday and anytime Sunday, all GMT.
So advice number one is - patience. There is a lot more 'players' than 'game masters', and as you have noticed many games get swamped with applications of varying quality. No one has anything against you. Patience, and perseverance.
Keep checking for one-shots (which sometimes lead into continuing games), and Pick Up Games (where you simply Join Game immediately). Also, there's at least one GMT community I've seen in the LFG/Join a Game listings. Good luck!
May I be so bold and give another option? Did you think about being the DM and start a game yourself? It's not that hard, actually. Find some players who are willing to learn how to play with you, and maybe one player who knows the rules, and off you go! ;)
