[LFP][5E][GMT][Weds][AiME] Adventurers Wanted

Company of bold adventurers needed to embark on epic scale campaign using Adventures in Middle Earth setting. No previous AiME experience necessary but be aware that when compared to vanilla D&D 5e it is: - low magic (Gandalf was one of the best magic users - an relied on flaming pine cones!). Magic items more common than magic users. - There are specific classes/ races/ backgrounds to choose from: hobbit, various Dwarven cultures, a few Elven cultures and lots of human cultures. - some new mechanics to get used to: the journey is an important part of the adventure, audiences with the great and the good are similarly so. - no alignment: all of the Company are assumed to want to do the right thing, doing the wrong thing or seeing horrible sights etc. leads to Shadow Points with consequences! (Think of Frodo's slip into despair). Story is everything in this setting - think of us as telling a story together rather than DM vs Players. Combat is less frequent than in most 5e, non-combat interactions conversely more so. No "edgelords", Chaotic Evil "just playing my character" or "murder hoboes" need apply. In return I hope to provide as immersive a roleplay experience as possible: I want you to feel like you are stepping into Tolkien's world. I'll probably use Roll20 for maps - though with less emphasis on moving tokens about as I'm not really familiar at all with Roll20 (I hope to grow into it a bit more). So game play will be mainly Discord. As well as regular voice chat sessions there will be plenty of between game stuff to carry out: one of the strengths of the AiME setting is its credible use of downtime activities. So.…. want to unleash your inner Arwen? Or perhaps your wanderings from Bree have brought you to the edge of The Wilderland: take the next step with me! Plan on using Weds as main game day - 7 -10pm ish.
That's a lovely setting and a very convenient timezone. I would love to join, if you have a space for me. I have played lots of different games, and GMed too, but it has been a while and never online. D&D is one of those games I have played several times, but I have never read the rules. Focusing on the role playing, we could leave that to the GM. Thus I might not be as familiar with the rules as you expect. It seems that everybody is assumed to default to D&D5 these days. I shall be happy to read up though, if you point me to the must-reads.  Played MERP once upon a time, but the the widespread magic abilities did not feel quite right in Tolkien's world. It seems AiME is better in that respect.

Hi George - AiME adds a new level of mechanics to existing 5e so it may be a bit of a stretch if you aren't that familiar with the base system I think. (Totally agree re: MERPS btw - great source material though!) Jim
I have to say that I'm very interested in joining. Although I have ever played AiME, I love the idea of playing in a more character-centered game where the best solution is not to kill everyone. The game-time is also perfect for me, so I am consistent and reliable. feel free to PM me.
Hi Lucas: the slots have all been filled now and the Company has set off in search of adventure I'm afraid! If a berth becomes available or I open up another campaign you are first in line sir! Jim
