I am running Mazes & Minotaurs , a free RPG based on the idea
of
role-playing emerging from ancient world miniatures war-gaming instead
of medieval miniatures war-gaming. The result is an old-school
D&Dish rules set with a classical base to the chaotic blend of
various flavors. It's simpler than modern D&D, so not a bad intro to
the hobby (it is also free, which makes it a cheap intro). The current
adventuring is
forest exploration. A variety of pre-generated characters will be
available, with just enough background to provide a motive for being
there. If you keep playing (and the character survives), you can develop
additional background and character as we go along. If this sounds like
something you might be interested, the
game is to be found at: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/100381/time-of-heroes-original-mazes-and-minotaurs We start play on Sundays at 10 a.m. (Pacific... which is also my time zone).
