Completely new player. Where to begin?

Hello all, My name is Jacob and I'm completely new to D&D. Looking to get the ball rolling and learn to play so I can drag some friends in too. If anyone is interested in helping me get started it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Reading the basic rules is a good start --> https://www.5esrd.com/ You will have to master those if you want to drag friends into the game as they will rely on you to explain the basics (and probably more). Then, playing in a couple games that are open to new players on here, posting here with informations such as which days you can play, at what time, your timezone, etc. would be a good way to find such games. Plenty of DMs who enjoy showing the ropes to new players on here, as far as I can tell. Good luck !
Thanks! I've been meaning to read the rules so I'll get to that soon. I'm available weekends anytime.
I'll say that if you have questions about the rules ... you can send me a PM here on Roll20 and I'll try to answer best I can. Good luck finding a game ! (I'm not a DM anymore so I cannot help you much with that !)
Thanks! Right now I jist want to get into a game for context yno? I just learn better that way..
