Stalagmites and dynamic lighting

Is there a way to draw a circle that appears on the token layer and blocks light? Just drawing a circle on the DL layer didn't block right and it's hard to tell the "stalagmite" is there and the shadows aren't just weird.

Try drawing an "X" instead.  That blocks light, but allows some of the graphic to be seen as well.

I have also found that a small box works well for columns and gives the impression of being able to see a bit around the column. The main thing you want to avoid is rounded edges on the DL layer. Apparently the system doesn't play well with those.
Thanks!
