As you stand at the entrance of the shrine of Papazotl suddenly an armed Grung appears behind you. The grung is battered and bleeding heavily, but has the stance of a dangerous foe. You pull out your weapons to defend yourself and then the grung says "Besh?" Besh looks closely and realises that is his old companion b'Urp. He tells you all to sheathe your weapons and explains that this is the grung that had travelled with him originally to Chult. They catch each other up on what has happened since they last saw each other and Besh is saddened to hear of the death of his other party members.  Always the pragmatist, b'Urp decides that his best option is to continue on with this (mostly) new group. You decide that rather than accept the invitation of the Yuan-ti that you will go to the final unexplored shrine first and see if you can find the 8th puzzle box. You make your way to the edge of the cliff to decide how to make your way over the gap to the finger of stone in the lava on which the shrine sits. As you are making your way to the shrine you see an airship start flying above the city from the north. Around 50 gargoyles from around the clifftops immediately fly up and rip the bag of the airship to shreds. It plummets and crashes into a building to the south. You get there in time to see vegepygmies throw a human figure off the cliff and into the lake of lava. You also see gargoyles ripping some of the crew apart and small dinosaurs scavenging at the corpses. You decide to sneak closer for a better look, but as you sneak through the undergrowth you come across the corpse of a paladin of Torm. He had obviously fallen or jumped before the ship crashed and had died when he landed. You scavenge a magical sword and shield he has. When you get to the ship the gargoyles have departed and you are able to search it. You find lots of supplies, but nothing to really indicate who the inhabitants were. You decide to head to your original location, the clifftops near the only shrine you have not explored. Unknown to you, Thazma and her thugs are hiding in a nearby building. She has been joined by the thugs that escaped from the previous encounter with you and they have informed her about Orvex's treachery. They have already been to the shrine via a rope that they attached over the gap and retrieved the puzzle box. They now wait for you to start crossing the rope so that they can attack while you are relatively defenseless. You arrive at the edge of the cliff, but it has changed since last time you were there. As well as some of the cliff-face having crumbled into the lava, there is now a securely fastened rope crossing the gap in between you and the shrine. The new edge of the cliff is also covered in old human bones. You take a moment to consider and decide that the last remaining wizard might be in the shrine now. You decide that the best course of action is to stage an ambush. You look around for a suitable place to hide and see a nearby two story building. As you head to the very building that Thazma and her thugs are hiding in she realises that her ambush has failed and she attacks, taking everyone except Trayzeal by total surprise. Suddenly you are pelted with snow and ice and the bones on the cliff-face rise up, form into skeletons and attack Orvex, hacking into him savagely. He is cut down immediately and falls, unconcious and bleeding. Trayzeal starts shooting at the figures in the building, but they have excellent cover and are hard to hit. Grizz summons eight axebeaks to attack the skeletons and the figures in the building. Crossbow bolts start firing out of the building at you and then a fireball explodes among you all, shattering the skeletons, killing some axebeaks and burning you all and almost killing Orvex outright. However the pain of the blast brings Orvex around and Besh uses some magical healing on him. Grizz transforms into a giant spider and clambers out onto the building and attacking one of the thugs who is now on the balcony. Through a mixture of spells and attacks you eventually kill all but one of the thugs, but the wizard turns invisible and escapes. You charm the last Thug magically and he joins the group. His name is Shmesh. You decide that the wizard is too dangerous and that you cannot allow her to escape. Using your tracking skills you find where she has run through the undergrowth to another nearby building. She is in a corner, very wounded. When she sees you enter she realises that she has been defeated and surrenders. She passes the puzzle box of Moa to you and suggests that you team up to find the soulmonger. However you know that she wants to retrieve the soulmonger to take to the red wizards whereas you want to destroy it. She suggests that you are both more likely to achieve your goals if you work together and you can worry about what to do with the soulmonger if you all survive long enough to find it. This seems reasonable to you so you decide to team up with the last surviving red wizard, Thazma. You know that the only puzzle box remaining is held by Ras Nsi of the Yuan-Ti, so you decide the time has come to enter their complex, but you decide to enter by the secret passage you found some time ago, rather than by the main entrance you were invited to. You wait till nightfall and enter the complex. The passage winds into the bowels of the earth. The air is wet and sticky, and the walls are slick with moisture. Harmless centipedes crawl across the floor as you descend. You sneak quietly around till you see a strange and unnatural creature. Trayzeal looks at it for a moment and then draws his bow and shoots...
