Playing soundeffects during sessions

I've been trying to find a good program for playing soundeffects. Roll20 has the basic functionality but with no way of uploading your own library it's a mess to get the ones you need. Ones I've tried is softrope but since we all game online (im in sweden and my players are in the US) that one is out of the question. I tried fiddling around with virtual audio cables , VAC, but that one is a nightmare to configure and I have to set up all programs audio to work again separately, skype, shoutcast(used for music but it has a terrible delay of 40 seconds) and livestream for recordings which is a mess. If all I needed do was to set up one program to shuffle audio through skype that'd be great but as is I have to reconfigure all other audio programs I use. Anyone found a better solution for this?

As long as the sounds you want to play won't break copyright laws, you could always upload it to soundcloud -- which is the service that Roll20 uses for the jukebox.  Just make sure to tag your uploads with "roll20" and set them to being "public."

Embustero, you're very welcome.  I've tested it out with some sound FX that were set up under the Creative Commons 0 license.  It works great!  Just make sure to set up your tags in a way that will let you search for the sound in the jukebox. :)  Always use "roll20" but any set of tags that you will remember should work.  Or you can name it something bizarre, I suppose. :)

In addition to Sarah A.'s advice, seeing that the Help & Docs section on the Jukebox has been updated, I'm quoting part of it because it contains another very useful tip: "From there, use the dropdown menu to select if you're looking for background music, sound effects, or to search all of Soundcloud. Enter keywords in the search box to look for sounds. You can also direct link a particular Soundcloud track by pasting its URL into the search field. " This makes the sound files to appear immediately.

Didn't know that, that's pretty useful. Still a bit tricky, most of my library of soundeffects are from games so will probably break some copyright (what isn't these days). Still something Il'l keep in mind. Less tricky than VAC. Hmmm what do with those I have absolutely no idea of source though...

Yes, I agree it's tricky regarding copyright because Roll20 currently demands SoundCloud files to be set to "Public".  Even if we can own such files legally for our particular use during a Roll20 game session, having them as "Public" means that such files can be accessed by anyone at SoundCloud.. This has been discussed earlier in other threads, but things remain in this way so far. Um . . .
