[D&D] [5E][LFP] [Free] Looking for 4 player for a weekly Curse of Strahd campaign

Curse of Strahd You and your fellow refugees are lost in an unfamiliar forest. Several weeks ago, you left your homes in Mihaelia, a country embroiled in a brutal civil war, following the promise of safety in the silent kingdom of Barovia. It would never have occurred to you to seek refuge there, in that land nobody had seen in centuries, if it hadn’t been for the invitation of that strange man. He had come to town in the middle of night, dressed in a fine black coat, and entered the crowded tavern you had sheltered in with the rest of the desperate masses fleeing the war. He regaled you with tales of a verdant valley untouched by the scars of armed conflict, where the fields of grain grew tall, and even the lowliest peasant went to bed with a belly full of wine. He then reached into his fine coat and pulled out a letter from the Burgomaster of Barovia, which promised land and wealth to any who wished to settle there.  It was an offer to good to refuse. Unfortunately, your journey to Barovia did not go as planned. As your caravan made its way to the kingdom through the Svalich Woods, it was beset with constant problems: attacks by bandits and wildlife, injuries caused by wagon accidents on the ancient and decaying roads, and a creeping mist that made impossible navigate. One day, you and few other refugees lost track of the caravan and found yourselves all alone in a dark, misty forest.  You and your fellow lost refugees have banded together, hoping to find the rest of your caravan and continue your expedition. Little do you know that you’ve already entered Barovia… and there is no turning back. Look For Group Listing Application Thread Details Thread Q&A Thread Campaign Features A Gothic Fantasy: The Curse of Strahd takes place in the Kingdom of Barovia, a cursed land from which now one has left in centuries.  It is a land of horrors filled with terrifying monsters, devious characters, and the overwhelming presence of evil. Will you come out of the silent kingdom with your body and mind intact?  An Expanded Story : This campaign will expand on the narrative in the Curse of Strahd adventure in order to add more depth and intrigue to the story.  Many of these are based on the work and suggestions of experienced Curse of Strahd DMs. RP: Play as a refugee fleeing a brutal civil war. Perhaps you are the scion of a noble house slaughtered by your enemies, or young peasant girl forced to strike a bargain with some unholy being after your village was torched by marauding army, or a foreigner stranded in war-torn country and desperate to find a way home. The horrors of war make for strange bedfellows, and you will need one another to survive Barovia. Things You Must Be Cool With • A first-time DM. I have played D&D 5e before and have a good grip on how the game is played. However, I will probably make some mistakes as I go through the growing pains of running a campaign for the first time. • More focus on RP and story than combat and dungeon crawling. While I believe every campaign needs a healthy amount of all four, I’m looking players more interested in getting into character and interacting with the world instead of just fighting monsters and getting loot. • An original setting. While the campaign itself takes place in Wizard of the Coast’s Kingdom of Barovia, your characters will be coming from a world of my own, the continent of Teranostra. This is a setting based on renaissance era central and eastern Europe which dominated by feudal human kingdoms who rule over the other races on the continent. More info about the setting, such as where each race fits in the wider world and how Divine Magic works in this setting can be found in the Details Thread. • Limited hombrew & Player’s Handbook races only. The only real homebrew we’ll be using is Matt Mercer’s Gunslinger fighter archetype and the attached rules for firearm usage. I’ll also allow you to use the UA Revised Ranger instead of the official Ranger class is you desire. Otherwise, no unofficial classes or subclasses and no races outside of the one mentioned in the Player’s Handbook. • Zero tolerance for racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, harassment, and bullying. This should go without saying, but I figured I’d add that here just in case. Things You Need A decent microphone, the ability to use discord, and availability to consistently attend one four-hour session every Friday night.  How to Apply Read the rules in the Application Thread (under the listing)   carefully and then post your application in thread. If your application does not follow the rules, you will not be considered for the campaign. Curse of Strahd is built for small parties, so we will not be accepting more than 4 players. Applications must be submitted by Wednesday May 29th.  All players will meet on discord for one or two hours on Thursday May 30th at 8pm MST to discuss the campaign, create characters, and decide on group expectations. On Friday May 31st at 6pm MST we will begin the first session of the campaign. Have Questions or Need More Details? If you have any questions about this campaign, feel free to message me or post your question in the Q&A Thread (under the listing) For more details about the setting and the rules we will be using to create characters, you can consult the Details Thread (under the listing).
