Star Trek Adventures spending Determination

I know we can track the determination, however, how do we spend it on our roll?

Determination is used to grant an automatic crit success (worth 2 successes) for whatever you're rolling, whether it's a skill check or an attack. I don't think the ammunition thing would apply for it but thank you for that suggestion and please correct me if I'm wrong.
