Hey everyone! I'm recruiting players with zero or little tabletop gaming experience, and prefer players whose knowledge of Warhammer Fantasy isn't encyclopedic and honestly zero knowledge might actually be better. I will be providing all the necessary materials for this game, and purchasing the books aren't necessary as the rules are incredibly simple and character creation can be completed in 15 minutes with just the GM having access to them. About the system:  If you're looking to play "D&D", that is, a fantasy tabletop roleplaying game, Warhammer Fantasy RPG isn't too far off. The rules themselves are fairly different, but you have elves, dwarves, halflings, and humans, along with magic and swords and all that fun stuff. The main difference is that magic is scarce in Warhammer, and the entire system is more brutal and dark than your standard D&D game. If you've been looking for a D&D game for a while and have been having trouble finding one, please don't be discouraged from joining my table. WHFRP (Warhammer Fantasy Role-Playing) is the pen and paper RPG companion to the fantasy miniature game you might have seen advertised at your local gaming store. The entire system revolves around d10s and 'percentile dice' or d100. Were we using real dice this would be represented by a pair of d10s, with one representing the 10's place and the other representing the 1's place. On roll20, you can simply roll a d100 without having to fuss around. WHFRP uses a system of random character generation where you can roll an entire character including their home town and number of siblings in about 15 minutes. This means that at the beginning of the game, players will likely start off as rat-catchers, barkeeps, town watchmen, and other more mundane careers. These aren't classes, and the game uses a system of 'career exits' which allow you to transition from one career to another similarly related one. Transferring to a new career unlocks new skills and stat upgrades and can even allow you to become knights, mages, and the like. I highly recommend this system for new players as it's much easier to pick up and learn due to everything revolving around a specific percent chance of success, making it much more obvious what your character is likely to be able to succeed or fail in. About the game itself:  The Enemy Within is an amazing series of modules for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying's first edition, and is widely considered to be one of the greatest campaigns ever written. Games will be held Sundays at 4PM CST (GMT-6) and will likely run for 3-4 hours, maybe more if we can't get to a good stopping point. My intention is to run the game on Roll20 using discord for voice chat. I hope to run through the game with the same group of people but given the immense size of the thing it may not be entirely feasible. My policy is always IRL over gaming, but I would like any sort of notice prior to an absence. If you miss 3 games  in a row  without informing me of an extended absence I will open up your spot and you could be replaced. If you miss every other game or something like that you won't be removed but honestly if it becomes an issue I may have to talk to you out of character. This is mainly due to the fact that the nature of this campaign is that certain players have plot elements tied into the story and if you aren't there, we might not be able to progress with the story at all that day. About Me:  My name is Tristan and I am an experienced tabletop gamer and GM. I've been playing tabletop games since I was about 4 years old and haven't stopped for almost 16 years. I recently got an opportunity to GM for a group of friends who had never played tabletop games before and enjoyed the experience of playing with people who were brand-new to the hobby as a whole. My knowledge of Warhammer isn't all-knowing, but I have read quite a bit of the novels based in the setting and have a penchant for low-magic, dark-fantasy settings in general. If you want a fun, RP-heavy game with a 'rule of cool' approach, I'm likely your ideal GM. I am also LGBT-friendly (and LGBT myself) so my table will always be a safe space for players in those communities. Players I'm Looking For:  I am looking for preferably players who have zero (i.e., this is your first ever game) or very little (maybe one or two sessions total) experience playing tabletop RPGs. After playing with experienced players for a long time I've found it has grown really stale running games for them as they've seen just about every trope out there and the fun of gaming has often times worn out for them. Players who are LGBT are very much welcome at my table as well.  Players must be over the age of 18. Warhammer is a mature setting with mature themes and I don't want to deal with angry parents. Thank you.  Players who have little or no knowledge of Warhammer are also my preferred player, however I am happy to take anyone - just know my knowledge of Warhammer Fantasy isn't perfect and I may not know everything there is to know. If you aren't familiar with the setting, Enemy Within comes with a very useful little handout that explains basically everything you need to know to start playing. I am also looking to get a good amount of gender diversity at this table, and may be more lenient to men/women who apply if I have more of one than the other. This is purely because I have had the best experiences as a GM in the past when running a game for a good mixture of genders, cultures, and ages. Most of all, I am looking for players who are good at role-playing, acting, the theatrical, and drama in general. It is most fun for me when everyone is playing their character, doing funny voices, and cutting loose to have a good time. If you aren't role-playing, then all you're doing is just throwing dice around and that can get very boring, very fast. Application Process:  I don't expect anyone to write up an amazing backstory for their character - Warhammer is so lethal that honestly it's probably not the best idea to grow super attached. I am however expecting people to think up motivations for their characters. The application process is as follows: Fill out the following and send it to me in a direct message. Please leave the replies to this post for Q&A about the game itself. Preferred Name: Age: Gender & Pronouns: Discord Name: Gaming Experience: Warhammer Experience: Come up with a character and give them a motivation and 2 connections to hypothetical party members: Special Skills (Art, Music, Voices, etc): Any other info you have to add: I will do my best to reply to everyone whether or not they get into the game. I am looking for 4-6 people. Please do not apply if you haven't read the post. Hope to hear from you soon!
