Background Ideas for Characters

Ezra, do you have any additional ideas about your characters background?  So far I have the following:  Vance served eight years in the Quartermark Army.  He excelled at tactics and earned his marksmanship tag in Rifle and Laser Rifle.  Also, he was a member of an elite army team trained in deadly close combat with the SMG.  During his down time he trained in Broadsword (as a martial art).  He never actually engaged in combat but is "book smart" about battles and fire fights. Vance Frigga is a really great character Ezra.  You lucked out with your dice rolls.  One suggestion I have would be to look into a drug called Viladex which could improve your dexterity.
Oh, if anyone else has ideas for their character background please feel free to discuss them with me.   The more details I have about your character's past the more "interesting" events I can develop.
I never really pictured him as a Special Forces guy, but I definitely agree with the designated marksman tag. Everything else sounds about right. He was discharged early in 295 on Quartermark, as he was tired of the government's inaction against Mensah aggression. While he has no personal beef with Mensah per-se, he believes either the Mensah regime itself or its agents are behind most trouble in Quartermark. If war breaks out he will likely attempt to re-enlist, but until then he plans on countering any perceived aggression. This vigilante complex might have something to do with the fact that his own family traces its lineage to Vone.       He never knew his mother, (probably a Mensah officer) but his father took him from Vone as a baby and they settled on Quartermark. The last name was probably made up on the spot by his father during their stint as refugees, as they took mid passage in a refrigeration unit on an illicit tramp freighter.

Very well done Ezra!  I can work with that background.  Thank you.   Here's some filler data that will flesh out some of the ideas you presented in your background: Vance was born the 2nd week of y270 on the moon Vone in the Mensah star system.  Moved to Quartermark with his father Valentine the same year. Joined the Quartermark army in y287 quickly earned the rank of Lieutenant. In y293, Song Ling, Duchess of Quartermark negotiated the purchase of 10 Restoration class battleships from Carthage.  She went on to purchase the ships over the objection of almost all her ministers. In y293 the first battleship from Carthage, The Long Flowing Cloak of Unwavering Validation , was lost while traveling to Quartermark.  No trace of it has yet to be found. In late y293, the Duchess award a knighthood to Thelonious Churchgate in part due to his heroic actions against a radical group opposed to the purchase of the battleships.   In y294 the Duchess of Quartermark requests and is granted extended use of the Quartermark dreadnought Redress to boost the Quartermark Navy until the rest of the Restoration class battleships can be delivered.   By late y294 two additional Restoration class battleships from Carthage enter the Quartermark Navy. In early y295 the Duchess orders a restriction on the sale of Jump Drives from the Quartermark Adam’s Port to parties transporting them through the Adam’s Moon wormhole.  This is an attempt to cut off Jump technology to Tantry by way of Mensah. This action drastically increase tension between Mensah and Quartermark. In y295 the Duchess begins building permanent orbiting forts in orbit around the Adam’s Moon wormhole. In y295 the third in line to the Duchy of Mensah is reported missing while visiting a music concert on Kandahar.  Application of military force becomes a serious threat to within the Quartermark Cluster. The decision by the Duchess to purchase battleships from Carthage suddenly seems like a good idea. Later in y295 the Duchess offers a CR 250,000 reward for information leading to the capture of those responsible for the disappearance of Sir Landon Richmond, 3rd in line to the Duchy of Mensah.
