Map Sizes, Grid Sizes, etc.

I noticed that the basic grid given sets a precedence for 5-foot movement with tokens. I am newly on a computer for this use and am still learning the basics, but one thing I could not find was changing the size of the grid. Is there anyway to do so? If there is, I could get much more use out of any maps I use as most maps are larger than the provided grid. Any enlightenment would be welcome.
