How to make tokens appear translucent

I'm trying to make a token partially see-through for an effect, like how things look on the GM layer to the GM. I don't suppose anyone knows how to make it so the players see a token as partially see-through?
You'd have to do it in a different software like GIMP or Photoshop and then upload it back in (make sure its a PNG, I believe JPGs lose transparency)
As Jake said you need to have the translucent token as a seperate image. Then you can make a rollable table token to conveniently switch between the translucent and non-translucent token.

Ideally it could be a filter setting on the VTT canvas, as we already have tinting which is a similar filtering effect...
