Greetings! Today, we released a new feature that allows you to change your displayed player avatar based on your character! How It Works When you are in your game, as a player or as a GM, change the "Speaking As" dropdown box to speak as your character. Previously, the chat log would change to attribute your chat text to the character, but now, your in-game player avatar will also change to the character's portrait. When you switch to another character, your player avatar will change to that character's portrait. Note that, if you are broadcasting video, your avatar will continue to broadcast your video and will not change to your character portrait. Setting Your Portrait You've always been able to set your character's portrait, but here's a reminder of how to do that: To set the character portrait, open the character sheet and click the Edit button at the top of the window: There's a space to upload your character's portrait: Disabling Player Avatars The GM can disable this feature for the entire game in the Game Settings (gear icon) tab: Disabling Animations As a player, if animated avatars bother you, you can turn off animations on the whole VTT from the Game Settings tab: This feature has been available since animations went live, and now works on player avatars in addition to anything placed on the VTT itself.
