Rifts: Heroes Rising

I'm starting a Rifts game that I plan on being a long-term campaign. It will be based out of North America and start with the player characters being a mercenary group formed and funded by Lazlo. The game will begin before any of the written plots and world events published after the main book, and though the world will still be turning in the background with all the written events and plots (the Juicer Uprising, the Gathering of Heroes in Africa, the Mechanoid Invasion etc), the actions of the player group very well may alter the outcome of any major world event or cannon storyline. Character classes will be limited to those common in North America (no Mindwerks enhanced, bio-wizard altered Ninjas with magic tattoos and phase swords). I will make allowances for characters with detailed backstories that allow for justification of an exotic type character. I do allow for graphic adult content, and I tend to describe some scenes in a very detailed way that could upset some players who are sensitive to such things. Be aware of this. I will also have a code of conduct for the game that I will expect players to adhere to. Games are going to be played on Saturdays at 5 PM Pacific Standard Time and run for 3-5 hours (depending on game momentum and story progression) I plan on running this game as a Live Streamed game on Twitch and posting it to my Youtube channel. Games are going to be played on Roll20.net with the game title being Rifts: Heroes Rising 8 player slots total, but I'm willing to start play with as few as 4
let me review my rifts books, its been some time, what level
All the players are starting at level one. The approved books list will give you an idea on power levels
I had an Atlantean Shifter (transporttaion specialist) I played once before the GM Ghosted the whole group. Wouldn't mind trying something like that again (hey, I just like high MA and it turns our their racial abilities really complement the shifter). And yes, his name was Taxi :-) I'd only be available every 2 weeks, though, and in practice, it's hard to keep a weekly pace. Family obligations intrude as well. I'm on eastern time, so that would be 8 PM Saturdays
I've actually already started to consider a bi-weekly game. It's been a long time since I've put together a large, detailed game like this that wasn't a shoot-from-the-hip gathering of local friends that's known each other since birth and may have had my enthusiasm outstrip my reasoning on how much work it is. That being said, I've already turned down a half dozen character concepts that aren't from the core books provided, at least one of which was a True Atlantean. I realize that inherently True Atlanteans as Nomads or other classes like spell casters aren't *that* much more powerful than a human and are not really going to unbalance the game. The danger comes in from other players seeing one and then asking for Undead Slayers...then a snowball effect where everyone wants a tattooed biowizard enhanced cosmoknight - keeping a tight reign on character gen locks that down. However I do have a written exception that says if you provide me a detailed backstory about your character including plenty of justification and history as to why he has found himself in Lazlo, I will consider allowing it. Right now the group is missing a spell caster of any kind.

Wow, well holycrap it's been less than 48 hours since I originally posted the game and the player roster is full up. I had to create a forum for a waiting list and anyone who wants to play a background npc like character via discord chat. I'm still happy to let anyone in who is ok with a waiting list, as players always eventually drop out for a lot of reasons, or for players who are interested in helping out with background NPC interactions If this thing ends up taking off like it looks like it may I also may end up needing an assistant GM to help me keep everything coordinated. PM me if interested. Game invite link is here: https://app.roll20.net/join/4860416/SGKSDw Discord for the game is: https://discord.gg/xFYspqp
I can try to assist. I have tiddlers and limited time, but I can always take a few hours behind the scenes and help set things up. Let me know. You have a pro account I hope...
Once players decide they want to pay to play my games, then I will look into a Pro account, until then, being an oldschool tabletop gamer (including the stereotype of being chronically broke) means I'm not going to pay money in order to unlock the option of even more work setting up a game session than being a GM normally entails.
